MOJO263 ~ Just Because, Shabby Style ~

I must confess my craft table is a mess!  I am frantically working to clear up some projects and as a result my craft table looks...  well loved???  lol...  I firmly believe a messy craft table must indicate a creative mind...  ***please don't burst my bubble dear friends***  :-)

Today I am sharing my take on the Mojo Monday sketch...

and my interpretation...

I created the flower by stamping multiple images (from Verve's Great Friend set) on designer paper and hand cutting each one out. I then used a stylus to curl and cup each layer and nestled them together with some glue. I placed a pearl brad in the middle to adorn and attach all layers. The greenery may also be found in the Great Friend set. I used a Close To My Heart ink and hand cut each before adhering as desired. The circle is actually a Spellbinder die I cut, embossed and embellished with pearls before placing behind the panel. The main panel has also been distressed, inked and embossed for added interest. The measuring tape is actually an embellie by Maya Road I picked up recently. Isn't it cute? Thanks so much for stopping by! Will be back soon with more fun projects to share! Hugs and blessings...

And my project for the week...

The card measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches. For my base I selected a black card stock with an ecru matting. The DP is from My Mind's Eye Sunshine Collection!  I took two coordinating patterns and nestled them side by side on the ecru matting.  I distressed each layer with a distressing tool and inked the edges lightly.  Becca's Peg Bow Maker made easy work of this satin bow!  I added a fun embellie by Recollections and a crochet button with blossoms in the corner.  Very simple and super fun!

Thanks for popping in!  Hope you have a great week!

A Little Distressed Tea Cup

I've discovered distress paint!  I find myself slathering it on EVERYTHING!  If the Saints hold still long enough...  JUST KIDDING!!!!

So when I decided to color this tea cup image I HAD to put Ranger's Distress Paint in Hard Rock Candy all over it!  I love how it crackles and makes the cup look like old china!  To do this, I stamped my image first, colored it with Copics and slathered it with paint.  You need a THICK coat for it to crackle properly.  AFTER curing, I cut it with Spellbinders' Nested Tea Cup die.  Super easy!  For this project, I used a real Wilton doily along with DP by Teresa Collins.  Whatcha think???

A blossom from my stash and some paper punched leaves finish it off! Thanks for looking! Until next time...

Blessings...

JUGS144 ~ Serve ~

Good morning! Hope all is well with you and yours! Today I am sharing a recent sketch from Just Us Girls.

And my interpretation...

The designer paper (from K & Company's Susan Winget's Meadow) drove the color scheme. I wanted to keep the feel of Rudbeckia so I chose a rich yellow and deep brown for the matting and base respectively. I selected Our Daily Bread Designs' Serve the Lord set for my sentiment and a Cheery Lynn Designs die for embellishment. The embellie is not Rudbeckia but a sunflower.  But I decided to keep it for the cheery look! A very simple project to complete! Thanks for stopping by!

CAS176 & WAW36 ~ Sturdy Shelter ~

Thought I would pop in and show you another card I created with Our Daily Bread Designs' Faithful Friend set.  I got this set a week or so back and I just can't put it down!  I love it when a stamp set just seems to work for every project!  The sketch is from this week's Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoast.

I scored the bottom of the white card stock base before placing a matted layer of Authentique paper. I matted the sentiment on a simple black card stock panel and fussy cut the dragonfly. After adding Diamond Stickles to his "wings" I popped him on the card with dimensional foam. Super easy! Gotta love that! As always thanks for stopping in! I love to hear from you!

Don't forget on July 1st, Our Daily Bread Designs will release new stamp sets! (...they are FABULOUS!) For my Cricut fans stop in next week on Monday and Friday for some Exploring Cricut posts! And next Thursday the ODBD Alumni team will be having a hop! And it promises to be fun! Stay tuned, as I will be having a fun giveaway in July as well! It promises to be a wonderful month! Until next time... blessings...

My creation for the week...

For this card I chose to use black and cream card stock.  The finished card measures 5 x 7 inches.  My matted layer (black card stock) was run through a paper crimper for added texture.  I stamped the sentiment panel base with two images, a daisy bouquet from Daisy and bees from Simple Things.  Both were stamped with Ranger Black Soot Distress Ink.  I elected to use a scripture set from the Seed Packet set and stamped it on scrap vanilla card stock.  I used coordinating Spellbinders to cut/emboss and frame the sentiment.  A black pearl flourish from Kaisercraft was nestled under the panel and for interest I added both a daisy and rose blossoms.  Some paper punched leaves finished it off.

Thanks for stopping in and be sure to check out what my other Sister Sticks have for ya... Blessings...

Exploring Cricut ~ Daily Project!

Good Friday morning to ya! I am so excited to have a Cricut Expression that works! After taking a forced sabbatical from Cricuting I am finally back in action. And today I am popping with a fun and funky daily project for Exploring Cricut. This isn't my normal "frilly" creation. I pulled out a sorely neglected cartridge, Nifty Fifties for this one. And my creation is one COOL cat...

My base is white card stock cut to create a 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 inch card. I used Provocraft's Spots & Dots Embossing Folder for some pizzaz. The kitty was cut at 4 1/4 inches (black card stock) and then run through a xyron to make it tacky. I then covered the cat with black flocking. Because the cat was relatively small, I opted to cut pink for the ears and nose only (4 1/4 inches also). A few white pearls add a fun "collar" for my feline friend. The aqua base is also 4 1/4 inches. But the word cool which I pulled from the phrase "cool cat" is only 2 inches. I attached everything with dimensional foam for depth. So cool! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

SC389 ~ Weave in Faith

I love to participate in sketch challenges and one of my new favs is over at Splitcoast. Here's this week's sketch...

And here is my take on the sketch...

The card base is plain white card stock with a matted layer of lightly distressed red. I added a layer of DP from Prima's En Francais collection. I added a die cut by Cheery Lynn Designs and a wool blossom from Jolee's for interest. The sentiment is from a wonder Our Daily Bread set called Weave in Faith. Thanks so much for stopping by! Until next time...

CAS174 & SRC128 ~ Adventure ~

This week the Clean & Simple crew at Splitcoast are hosting a white on white challenge. First of all clean and simple simply SCARES me! And I can count the number of dominately white cards I have done over the years on one hand! With all of these phobias in mind, this sentiment from Helen Keller says it all...

Just do it! And where have I heard that before? ;-) So with that in mind I am entering this in a new challenge for me this week, Clean and Simple over at Stampin' Royalty.  See ya next time...

CAS174, TLC381 ~ Nothing Will Be Impossible

Thanks so much for stopping by! Today I have another clean and simple card I submitted for a couple of challenges at Splitcoast. I played along with the Clean and Simple Challenge (White on White) and the Try a New Technique (Half it). The dies are some new Memory Box dies I received recently. For my "half" I cut the Bird Cage in Half and adhered it over the bird die cut. Pretty simple! The sentiment is one of my favorites from ODBD's Seed Packet set.

And here it is...

So I'm interested in your feedback! Do you like the Clean & Simple cards I've had or do you like the Fussy & Frilly ones I do? I like both depending on my mood! Operators are standing by... so you may submit your vote! :-) Blessings...

WT378 ~ The Sea ~

Welcome! So glad you could stop by today. My dear friend and Our Daily Bread Design Team member, Sabrina sent me a lovely package recently. Inside she carefully packed seam binding, blossoms, charms and chipboard. One of the treasures she sent was a metal pocket watch embellie from Michaels. That gift triggered this card...

My base is kraft card stock with a layer of caribbean blue paper. I selected designer paper by K & Company. I distressed the edges with a distressing tool and added distress ink to all sides. I then crinkled it up, flattened it back out and glued it to the base. This weeks SCS Ways to Use It Challenge involves banners. So I stamped my sentiment (ODBD's The Sea set) on kraft paper and cut a banner. I couldn't resist adding some hemp twine and a bit of Flower Soft Ultrafine Sand in the corner of the watch for interest. Almost looks like it washed up on shore! Thanks for stopping in and until next time!

F4A120 ~ So We May Live ~

Have you ever broke down and cryed while doing a simple task? The tears came for me Friday night. I had received an order of stamps from Our Daily Bread and excitedly sat down to color. I stamped my image, pulled out Copics and started to work. But something unusual happened during that 30 minutes at the craft table. Where a blank piece of paper was, an image of the Savior came to be. As I colored the shadows around his eyes and the shadows under his chin, my eyes began to well. I pulled out a red Copic and started to define the streams of blood on his brow and face. As tears poured down my face, I came to realize a simple truth. For each stroke of the marker was like a lash he took for me. As I colored and defined his features, I became painfully, humbly aware of the beating he took for me. I saw the blood on his face and the thorns on his brow and realized how he suffered and died so I may live... so we all may live... Thank you and blessings...

SSIC142, JUGS139 ~ Sing ~

Good morning!  I am now on day seven of Cricut withdrawal...  Hubs swears I am not NEARLY as charming as before the Cricut died!  :-)  But this has challenged me to do more stamping and in some cases get EXTREMELY creative about the products I use.  But that's good, right?  Sometimes you gotta knock the dust off of those under appreciated crafting items!

Speaking of under appreciated...  sometime I get stuck in a creative rut.  I really like those "shabby chic" cards.  And sometimes I fail to try other kinds of cards because I am so COMFORTABLE doing what I know how to do!  So today I am attempting to broaden my horizens with another clean and simple card.  I created this one for a sketch challenge at Just Us Girls and the weekly challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ.  The ladies at SSIC asked participants to create a card that depicts any element of heaven—angels, music, clouds, sun, stars, blue, glitter, bling, etc.  When I think of heaven, I think of music!  I found some My Mind's Eye papers (Be Happy) and went to work.  Kinda ironic that the paper pad is named Be Happy!  Me thinks that's a message...    ;-)

So here's the sketch...

And here's my interpretation...

Super easy! As always thanks so much for taking a few moments to stop by!

MOJO244 ~ Great Love ~

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! My Mom and I had the opportunity to share some quality time together. We live close to US 68 a state route which runs from Maysville, Kentucky south. The first weekend in June there is a 400 mile yard sale along this route. Saturday we took some time to check out about 60 miles of it. We found some treasures (my fav was an old St. Bernard print in a mahogany frame). But most importantly, we had some special time together. We had a chance to chat and catch up. Isn't it grand being an adult? I think we appreciate our parents so much more!

As we traveled along, my mom was reminded of a yard sale excursion she and my Dad made many years ago. She relived all of their finds and told me about this beautiful bowl my Dad had found. She asked me what happened to that bowl. Well, I couldn't for the life of me remember a thing about a bowl! The more we discussed it, she remembered that I was fairly young and would not have been with them. She told me how they stopped to browse for a few minutes and Dad found a beautiful pressed glass bowl. He excitedly exclaimed, "Chick would like that!" (Chick was the pet name he called me.) So he hurried over to pay for it. Well after getting home Mom packed the bowl away safe and sound. I grew up, graduated from high school and then college. I married, moved several times, divorced and married again. The whole time I knew nothing of the existence of the bowl. And in 1996 I lost Daddy to cancer. Sixteen years later as I type this, I find myself welling up. Somehow you never get over it... you just learn to live with it...

Tonight, I stopped by to see my Mom. And she had a surprise for me! She presented me with the bowl. As I held that bowl in my hands and felt the grooves, I thought of Daddy holding that in his big calloused hands so long ago. I thought of him seeking it out to give to me, knowing THAT one day I would LOVE that bowl. When he bought the bowl, I was in Middle School and not the least bit interested in "old stuff." But how well he knew his daughter! Because these days as a middle age woman I prowl antique shops and yard sales to find "antiques." I am definitely a Daddy's girl! It's amazing... it's a gift 30 years in the making... but somehow even sweeter... It's a testament to a great love...

Today's Mojo sketch...

And my interpretation...

Thanks for stopping in! Blessings...

STV12MON19 ~ All Our Love

This week's Mix it Up Monday Challenge at StampTV is to create a project for a child.  So I opted to pull out one of my "cute" sets, Warm & Fuzzy, and go to work.  This one is a very clean and simple card.  I tried to focus on bright, primary colors and cartoon like characters to fit the challenge...

The card stock base is green. I framed the focal panel with navy. Behind this panel I placed some fun paper from Echo Park's collection, A Boy's Life. Very simple and super cute! Thanks for stopping in!

And don't forget Friday will be the big release day for Our Daily Bread Designs.

RS13, TLC379, A Sneaky Peeky AND Life in Your Years

I can hardly believe Wednesday is here! Wow, has this week flown by! Friday will be release day at Our Daily Bread Designs. Kelley & Company have some fabbo stamps to share. And since Friday is just a few short days away (wink, wink) I thought I would share a sneaky peeky of one of the sentiments. This card will be going to a fun sketch blog called Retro Sketches.

Here's the sketch...

And my take on it...

So what do you think? Definitely a little more "shabby" than normal...but oh so fun to make! My dear friend and fellow DT member, Sabrina, sent me these lovely dress forms a while back. I inked this little gem up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink (directly from the ink pad) and allowed it to dry thoroughly. I then added some Ranger Distress Crackle Paint (Rock Candy) to the base and neck and let it dry. Once it was all cured, I glued on some burlap (Modge Podge) and trimmed it to the form. I added a twine rope at the waist with a tiny cream mulberry rose. My little dressform needed some bling so I added some Recollection pearls! The card base is plain black CS with a layer of distressed Prima Almanac DP. I inked all the edges with Ranger DI (Walnut and Tea Dye Stains) before crinkling, wrinkling and otherwise tearing it to shreds. Once it was "shabbylicious" I glued it to my card stock. The base for the dress form is kraft paper inked on the edges with the above mentioned Ranger stains. I also stamped ODBD's Time image randomly with the Walnut Stain. I didn't reink each time I stamped as I like that 2nd and 3rd generation print I get without it. The final touch... I stamped the sentiment (ODBD's to be released set, Bicycle) with Versafine Onyx Black. I added a hole punch and tied a piece of jute ribbon through the top. After placing the dressform where desired with dimensional foam I added it to the card. I also tucked a bit of ecru lace under the kraft panel for a feminine flourish.

So here's a closer view...

Thanks as always for stopping by and until next time... blessings...
