Christmas ~ The Real Reason

Good morning!  Thanks for stopping in!  I have a new card to share today featuring several products from Our Daily Bread Designs' September release.  In just a few short days, Kelley will have some new products to share!  ;-)  They are beautiful!  In the meantime, I have a Christmas card to share using an ODBD die and stamp set released this month.

I wanted to use the new Decorative Corners die but do something a bit "unconventional."  So I opted to cut out the die image on the bottom of my card, back it with a dark CS and reapply the cut.  I love how it gives a bit of added dimension.  In order to have the cross, we had to have the Savior's birth...  the cross serves as a visual reminder of the tremendous sacrifice he made.  The stamped image was colored with Copics, hand cut and added to the top with dimensional foam.  The sentiment from the Jingle Bells set is embossed on another die cut.  Here's the products I used... WAW99 ~ The Lord is God ~

Welcome!  It's time for another fabulous challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  Check out the WAW site for all the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!  A special thank you to both My Craft Spot By Kimberly and Deedee's Digis for providing prizes for this week's challenge! This week we feature Psalm 100:3 and a wonderful image from one of our sponsors, Deedee's Digis...

This week, I chose a scarecrow digi for my focal panel using a sketch for the design.  A double layer of matting (kraft and dark brown) make up the base.  I used coordinating designer papers for the main layer and two perpendicular coordinating DP strips under the image.  I created a double bow with twine and crinkled yellow seem binding and added a dark brown button.  This accents the focal scripture at the bottom.  Thanks for looking!  I pray you are having a wonderful week!

Exploring Cricut ~ What's Cooking Challenge ~

Welcome to the bi-weekly challenge at Exploring Cricut.  This week our theme is to...

create a card, layout or paper craft with something from the kitchen...  etc. Recipe book, cards, or anything kitchen related... Here's my project featuring the old standby cartridge Preserves, From My Kitchen and the Cricut Craft Room...

I decided to put together a few family recipes to hand down later on.  This jam cake recipe is one my mother is famous for.  We always had it at Christmas time with homemade caramel icing.  Yum!

I chose the blackberry image and words to weld together.  The recipe card can be found on the Preserves cart.  I scanned the original recipe (my handwriting) and trimmed it down to add.

A Special Tribute ~ Ike ~

Good morning and welcome! If you read my blog on a regular basis or just stop by to browse on occasion you probably know why I use the moniker Saintsrule. The name comes from the fact that I have 4 St. Bernards, Ike, Dakota, Morgan and Reagan. On Wednesday, September 18, my big brood became a little smaller.  Our gentle giant and all around big guy Ike passed on.His death was the result of a horrible accident. He had consumed something that twisted in his stomach, damaged his small intestines and ultimately set up an infection in his body.In the end, surgery on our precious boy could not save him, even with the valiant attempts of a tenacious vet.  He took time to investigate and find the root cause when others had pushed us aside. We lost him entirely too soon… just shy of his 7th birthday… Ike was a special boy.As large as he was, (180+ pounds in his prime) he never moved in a threatening way toward people.Even when he was so sick and being prodded in so many ways he kept his good nature…

Exploring Cricut ~ Love U ~

Welcome!  So glad you could stop by!  Today I have a card with a bit of a modern approach.  I love all the clean looking designs I see everywhere.  So I decided to try my hand at it!  I used Cricut Craft Room to create a negative base (circles cut at 1 inch) and trimmed it to fit my base.  This card is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.   I cut a heart ourtof DP at 1.75 inches and added dimensional foam to make it pop above the brick panel.  The bubble is 2 inches with a letter U cut at 1 inch also.  Very clean and simple but it gets the point across.  Hope my hubby likes it!  Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to join us at Exploring Cricut Monday for our next biweekly challenge!  It will be fun! WAW98 ~ My Refuge ~ Psalm 91:1-2 ~

Welcome!  It's time for more precious scripture and a fabulous challenge at Word Art Wednesday .  Check out the WAW site for all the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!  A special thank you to both The Scrapping Center and a returning sponsor, Diane's Daydream Designs for providing prizes for this week's challenge! This week we feature Psalm 91:1-2...

I printed my sentiment on designer paper and used an office supply style die to cut and emboss it.  I distress the edges to give it more of a notebook feel.  The images (branch and owl) are from Diane's Daydream Designs.  Aren't they darling???  I printed the owl out twice and cut the wings out and popped them up with dimensional foam.  Super cute!

Please keep our dear leader, Karen, in your prayers as she is rehabilitating!  We love ya, Karen!  {{hugs}}

So let's dive in with a couple of project I have to share today using two of the new sets, Santa's Sleigh and Old Fashioned Santa. First Santa's Sleigh... I colored this darling image with Copics and added glitter glue to all of the "packages" for added bling.  A rich red bow and black jet beads accent the black and white matting I used.  and then Old Fashioned Santa with more of a vintage feel... I also colored this image with Copics and lightly dusted the edge with distress ink.  The sentiment was embossed with a steel gray embossing powder.  I added lace …

The Apple of God's Eye

Another week is almost over!  Hard to believe that the kids are back in school and fall is in the air.  Over the last few weeks, I have had the distinct honor of sharing some of the new sets at Our Daily Bread Designs .  If you are a regular reader, you know how much I LOVE the new apple set!  This time I colored those delightful gems red and added a fun new die from ODBD as well!
This time I chose a rich red card stock base and added a kraft layer.  The dies are the new Decorative Corner Dies.  I cut/embossed 2 and added them to the top and bottom of my card for added architectural drama!  I stamped the image from the new Apples set on Copic compatible paper before coloring.  After coloring the image, I sponged light blue ink around it to mimic sky and die cut it.  I stamped the sentiment on plain white card stock and hand cut it to create a banner.  I wanted it to look like it was propped in the bushel container!  This is one of my favorite sets this month!  I just love coloring this…

MOJO310 ~ Wishing You A Merry Christmas ~

Good morning!  Hope this post finds you well!  There is a terrible "bug" roaming our part of the country and unfortunately several friends are suffering.  It sure seems like the flu is starting early, IF that's what it is.  Doesn't bode well for the rest of fall and winter!  I will keep taking my Vitamin C and praying for the good Lord's mercies!  And if it happens...  just take it in stride, right?  We live our lives as a witness of His amazing grace!  And if we grumble and complain, what kind of message are we sending?  Life it tough but our Savior is tougher!  He took on the devil for us and won!  So why be afraid?  Christmas will be here soon.  Another glorious season to celebrate our Savior's birth...  I am definitely trying to get ahead of the game and get some cards made!  I am sharing another card using the tissue stamping technique.  I modified it a bit by applying the inks directly to an embossing folder.  I then ran my paper through and got a wonde…

WAW97 ~ Colossians 4:6 ~ Seasoned With Salt

Welcome!  It's time for some beautiful scripture and a creative challenge at Word Art Wednesday .  Check out the WAW site for all the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!  A special thank you to both Nice Crane Designs and Digi Darla's
for sponsoring this week's challenge! This week we feature Colossians 4:6...

This week I decided to incorporate a technique challenge.  For this one I used facial tissue.  I used three shades of green ink, scrunching up a facial tissue, dipping in each ink from light to dark and lightly sponging on white card stock.  Make sure you use a separate tissue for each color.  That way your ink colors stay true and give the paper a nice mottled effect.  I layered the card with white and 2 shades of coordinating green card stock.  I printed this week's scripture on white paper and layered it with the darker green paper.  A few graduated green pearls adorn the top left …

WT443 ~ The Smallest Seed ~

Good morning!  I'm so happy you could stop by!  Today, I have a challenge card to share.  The weekly Ways To Use It challenge at Splitcoast features honey.  I had no idea it is National Honey Month!  I love honey and eat it any chance I get.  I found out just recently that honey can taste different in various regions of the country.  Apparently, the flowers/pollens available in a geographic area determine the taste of the honey!  How cool is that?  Does that mean a top notch scientist can determine where a particular honey comes from by analyzing its makeup?  Hmmmm...  If anyone knows the answer, I would LOVE to know!!!! While I wait for the answer, I will share a fun "bee"utiful card!  Sorry!  I just had to do that!  :-)  Can you "bee"live it?  STOP!!!!!
The card base is yellow card stock with a layer of black.  I embossed the top and bottom of my sentiment panel with a honeycomb EF.  The tiny "bee" is an image stamped from Our Daily Bread Designs…

Exploring Cricut ~ Back to School Challenge ~

Welcome to the bi-weekly challenge at Exploring Cricut.  This week our theme... Back to School using the colors red, green, white, black, orange, yellow AND include one ribbon Here's my project featuring the old standby cartridge George and the Cricut Craft Room...

I cut multiple rectangles skewing them to create a partial chevron pattern.  2 inch hearts from the same cart make up my blossom.  A bit of left over green ribbon becomes useful when used as faux leaves.  I used the Craft Room to create my title, welding the letters and numbers together.  This layout was designed for a 5 x 7 photo.  I can't wait to put my grandson's photo on here!   Thanks for visiting! Exploring Cricut ~ Custom Luminary ~

Welcome!  So glad you could stop by!  I am SO excited to be rejoining the Exploring Cricut team!  Diane and company always have some of the best projects to share!  I certainly hope I can share a little something with all of the Cricut fans out there!  This week I have a custom luminary project I created for a very special event this summer.  My step-son married a lovely lady a few months ago.  One of the things she wanted for the reception was a customized luminary set similar to those she spied on Pinterest.  The ones she saw were created with white lunch bags and were so complicated that she gave up entirely on the project.  Her husband to be came to me the day before and asked if I would be willing to "take on the project" as a surprise for her.  After pondering the whole lunch bag idea and scouring Pinterest, I decided my trusty Cricut would do a fine job.  A few adjustments to my original plan and I came up with these...

and a shot of them with the happy couple...

MOJO309 ~ Green Apples ~

This time of year, my mind turns to apples.  Apple cider, apple pie, apple turnovers...  YUM!!!  Nothing says Fall like a trip to the apple orchard!  Granny Smiths are one of my personal favs.  Not everyone likes their tart taste.  I recognize I am in the minority here.  So to honor my favorite fruit I colored these gems green!
and the sketch that inspired it all... I chose an apple green card stock and kraft paper for my matting.  I colored the image with Copics and highlighted each "apple" with a white gel pen.  I sponged a soft blue ink on the background to mimic sky.  I added a die cut sentiment with just a touch of jute for a rustic touch.   Now I want some pie and ice cream!  :-)   Thanks for stopping by! WAW96 ~ Renew Your Strength ~ Isaiah 40:31 ~

for sponsoring this week's challenge! This week we feature Isaiah 40:31...
This scripture was so timely this week.  I have been struggling with printer issues (thanks to dear hubs for taking SO much time fixing it...)...  The devil has been working overtime for sure!  But when you have God on your side, nothing else really matters.  Right??
I printed the scripture on card stock before cutting with Spellbinders' Labels Seventeen.  I cut another layer (orange) and split it in half before adhering to the back.  It gives it a nice shadow look.  I embossed the DP (a DCWV pack) with a floral EF and added some paper punched leaves and cloth sunflower.  I just had to pull out som…

I have two cards today featuring this fabulous new release!

The first uses a new set called Jingle Bells...

shown here....

Isn't this image just amazing when colored?  I used Copics to color it and lightly sponged blue ink around it to create a faux sky.  A touch of glitter glue brightens up the snow while layers of red and green card stock make the white die cut layers pop.  I stamped a coordinating sentiment from this set on white card stock and used a ribbon die cut to highlight it.  I nestled it on th…
