SU ~ Star Spangled Chevrons ~

Good morning and welcome!  Today, I have a different project celebrating the upcoming 4th of July holiday.  If you are a trend watcher, you know that chevrons have been BIG.  You see them everywhere from home decor to ladies' fashion.  And I everyone from the cutest little girls with brightly colored hair bows to middle aged voluptuous ladies And yes, I count myself among the latter!  :-)  Anytime I find a trend that catches my eye, I try to incorporate it into my paper projects.  A friend of mine has an embroidery business and she shared a fun project she was working on via Social media.  It involved chevrons (created with red Ric Rac) and her interpretation of Ol' Glory.  I was amazed/bedazzled/inspired and nearly passed out...  Did I mention I was totally bedazzled????  SO what does any crafter do when inspiration strikes??  You run to your craft room and go with it!!!

I started out my stamping my blue field twice, first on the actual focal panel and then again on a piece of scrap paper.  I cut the second one out to use as a mask.  I placed the mask over my original blue field and used the chevron stamp to create my stripes, stamping over the masked area for continuity.  And yes, I used a stamp positioner for this part, because spaced these just right is very tricky...  and I am so not talented...

and the set that started it all... Work of Art

I love this set!  When I first looked at it in the catalog, I was struggling for ideas...  but now I am so hooked and can't wait to do more...  rainbows... masculine cards...  the possibilities are endless!

additional supplies

Stampin' Up - Night of Navy  Card stock and Ink

ODBD ~ Let Your Light Shine ~

Good Wednesday morning!  The weekend is quickly approaching!  Can you believe July 4th is around the bend?  Summer is flying by and I'm not so sure I like it!  :-(

Today, I have a clean and simple card featuring a couple of new items from Our Daily Bread Designs including the Good Man stamp set and fabulous Vintage Ephemera Paper Collection.  And I threw in a cute little die cut sun/star from the new Sunburst Background .

I love clean and simple.  They are so easy to duplicate!

I started with a rich cocoa card stock base measuring 5.5 x 4.25 inches and added a Kraft mat layer.  I chose two coordinating papers from the Vintage Ephemera Paper Collection   and cut them to fit as shown.  I used an older die, Beautiful Borders Die, to create an overlapped lace edge from ecru and Kraft card stock.  I stamped my sentiment on ecru with Memento's Rich Cocoa ink and matted it with a bit of dark cocoa card stock.  A tiny sun die cut (created with poster board) sparkles on the bottom edge.

Here are some of the items I used today...

First, I have a project featuring the new stamp set Floral Sentiments 7 ...

I started with a white card stock base (5.5 x 4.25 inches) and added a soft blue mat.  I used Our Daily Bread Designs' Sunburst Background Die to cut and emboss my focal layer.  But before removing, I used a soft blue ink to color the embossed areas.  I stamped my image (North Coast Creations' Floral Sentiments 7) on Copic Compatible paper with a soft gray ink and colored with Copics.  I cut and embossed the image with ODBD's Vintage Flourish Pattern Die and added a soft blue card stock layer created with ODBD's Vintage Labels Die.  A white seam binding bow and sentiment panel with hemp tie finish it off.  Here is the new set you see...

And for my second card I used North Coast Creations' new Floral Sentiments 8 set...

I stamped my image with a rich cocoa ink on ecru card stock.  I created a base with dark brown card stock and used some new papers from Our Daily Bread Designs' Vintage Ephemera Paper Collection.  I used ODBD's Pennants Die to cut the banners and butterfly stamp directly from the paper.  I stamped the sentiment from today's release on a scrap of DP and die cut it with ODBD's Mini Tags Die  before adding a brad and attaching it.

And here is the second release from this set...

Now I will send you on your way to check out all of today's fabulous projects.  Don't forget to leave some love on each of the blogs so you too can be entered into the drawing.

NCC ~ Bon Voyage ~

Happy Friday!  We are sailing into the weekend and I couldn't think of a better way to mark that event than by pulling out the new North Coast Creations' Sail Away
stamp set.  I started with a simple red 5.5 x 4.25 card stock base and added white
matting along with some fun papers from Our Daily Bread Designs' Patriotic Paper Collection.

I stamped the image on white card stock (Nautical Blue) ink and lightly sponged the background with a soft Summer Sky ink.  I cut my three banners using ODBD's Pennants Die
and adhered them to the image panel before placing it slightly off center.  I stamped my sentiment on white card stock and used ODBD's Sparkling Stars Die to cut both it and a red card stock base.
I just love the chevron design in this paper pad.

This week, I started with a white card stock base and added a rich green mat.  I printed out scripture directly on white CS before adding a grove of trees stamped with a traditional rubber stamp set.  After I cut the image and scripture down to the desired size, I used a scallop punch (the actually punched piece of paper) to sponge on a soft summer sky ink to create nice fluffy clouds.  **At this moment I feel like I am channeling PBS's Bob Ross**  Who couldn't use a few happy little clouds in their life, right?

Here's my supply list...

ODBD ~ The Promise of a New Day ~

Good morning!  Today, I have a post featuring a few items from Our Daily Bread Designs'
June release.  For this project I used ODBD's new die, Sunburst Background along with the Sunrise Blessings.  I've been thinking about our trip last year to the Outer Banks and just how AMAZING it was to see the sun come up over the ocean.  I keep seeing the beautiful sea oats, sand dunes and quaint fences...  So I was inspired to create this...

I started with a card base measuring 5.5 x 4.25 inches.  I chose a goldenrod color card stock to build on and added a white CS mat.  I used the Sunburst Background Die to cut/emboss my focal layer (also in goldenrod) but before removing the die, shaded everything with a rich yellow distress ink and sponge.  I stamped my sun image (Sunshine Blessings)
on Copic compatible paper and after coloring, gently cut it out.  I used ripped some Kraft paper (this is where you get your frustrations out my friends) and overlapped them to create sand dunes.  I nestled the hand cut sun in behind the dunes so the "rays" from the die would appear to come from Mr. Sun.  I then used a couple of older dies from ODBD to create my version of sand grass and a beautiful fence.  I opted to stamp the sentiment directly on my embossed background with Versafine ink.

So here are the products you see today...

and some oldies but goodies...

Have a wonderful day!

~ Happy Flag Day ~

June 14th is Flag Day in the United States.  This day marks the adoption of the flag of the United States by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.  President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1916 that officially declared June 14th Flag Day.  So in honor of this special day and my love of Old Glory, I decided to share a card I created using some items in my stash.
God Bless America!

A Look Back at Our Daily Bread Designs' June Release

Can you believe how quickly this year is flying by?  It's hard to believe that schools are out and summer vacations are starting?  It just seems like last week that I was planning for Christmas!  My Momma always told me time would speed up once I got a bit older...  lol...

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs' June Release.   Today I used the new Sunshine Blessings stamp set and fun new die, Sunburst Background.  For more inspiration using the June Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.  And don't forget to check out the links at the end of today's post to all of the other designers (The Bread Sticks.)  They have some fabulous creations to share as well!

I started with a white card stock base (5.5 x 4.25 inches) and added an orange mat.  After using the Sunburst Background Die to cut out my focal layer, I sponged on three layers of ink  **BEFORE removing the die!**  I started with a pale yellow, added a yellow pink closed to the center and then added an orange layer further out.  I stamped my sentiment on a white piece of scrap card stock before using the Pennants Die to cute/emboss/frame it.

I just love the rich tones!

So here are the items you see!

ODBD ~ Hello Sunshine ~

Its time to start a new week.  I certainly hope the sun is shining where you are.  If not, I have a project that just might bring a bit of sunshine into your day!  I'm blessed to be working with some of the new items from Our Daily Bread Designs'.

Grab your sunscreen!  ;-)

I started with a 5.5 by 4.25 inch white card stock base and added a rich yellow mat.  I used ODBD's Sunburst Background Die to cut my focal layer and then used a sponge dauber and Memento's Canteloupe pigment ink to color the rays and sun.  After removing the die I stamped the sunshine's face (ODBD's Hello Sunshine set) and added a touch of Memento's Angel Pink ink to each "cheek."  I grabbed some white CS scraps and used the Clouds and Raindrops Die to create my clouds and then stamped the sentiment (from the Hello Sunshine set also) on one.  I added my clouds with dimensional foam.

So here are some of the new items I used today...

and an oldie but goodie...

CLOUDS & RAINDROPS DIES - CSBD85

I certainly hope you are making the most of this Monday.  Here's to fresh starts and new beginnings!  And a bit of sunshine in each and EVERY day!!!

MOJO400 ~ Storms ~

Good morning!  I'm excited to be playing along in this week's Mojo Monday challenge.  I decided to go with a nautical theme.  Normally I gravitate toward red, white and blue.  But this time, I opted to put a bit of a new spin on my theme.  Think pink, white and blue!

I started with a navy card stock base measuring 5.5 x 4.25 inches.  I added a slightly smaller pink card stock mat.  I chose a fun DP from Authentique's Seaside paper pad.  I stamped my flower images (Verve's Great Friend set) with a pale pink ink and then stamped the coordinating edging with a navy ink.  I hand trimmed each before placing.  I stamped the leaves (also found in the Great Friend set) with a soft green and fussy cut each one.  I created the sentiment panel by stamping the circular braid and sentiment (from the Strong Anchor set) in navy and using a small circular die to cut it out.  I arranged my flower spray and popped up the sentiment panel with dimensional foam.  Easy, peasy and clean!  Love those clean and simple projects!  What about you?

And here's the MOJO400 sketch that started it all...

Thanks so much for stopping by!  And always I appreciate your lovely comments!

It's time for another fabulous, fun and inspirational challenge

Be sure to check out the Word Art Wednesday site for all of the details including this week's digital scripture, how to link your creation AND info on some fabulous prizes!

We appreciate this week's sponsors so very much!  Please take a few moments to thank those who provided our prizes this week!

This week, I decided to go with a lush spring scene...

I started with a white card stock base measuring 5.5 x 4.25 inches and added a sage green mat.  I printed this week's scripture on white card stock and cut it down slightly smaller than the sage mat.  I then stamped the vine imaged directly over it.  I used Memento's Bamboo Leaves colored ink for the vine image and Summer Sky (with a hint of London Fog) sponged along a torn piece of paper to create the "sky."  I stamped the butterflies on Copic compatible paper before die cutting and coloring with Copics.  I added the finished butterflies with dimensional foam.

It's Release Day at Our Daily Bread Designs

It's the first day of June and that means RELEASE day at Our Daily Bread Designs' .
April showers bring May flowers and June...  brings new shabby papers and lots of sun at ODBD!  And this month, you have a chance to hop along, comment and potentially win a gift certificate good toward the purchase of ODBD stamps!

Check at the end of today's post for all of the hop details including links to my "Sister Sticks."  Right now, I'm too excited to sit still!  I have to show you the new products and the projects I created using them!  ;-)

This one features the new Hello Sunshine stamp set

I started with a black card stock base (5.5 x 4.45 inches) and added a soft blue mat.  I used the Sunburst Background Die to cut/emboss my focal layer AND sponged in Memento's Summer Sky ink before removing the panel from the die.  I stamped my image, from the Hello Sunshine set, on Neenah Solar Crest paper before coloring with Copics.  I used a stamp positioning tool to stamp the sentiment (also from that set) with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I cut the panel down to the desired size and added a blue and black matting.  I placed the panel slightly to the right of the card (if you are looking at straight at it) because the die pattern is designed that way as well.  A few die cut clouds from ODBD's Raindrops and Clouds Die fit snugly on the bottom with dimensional foam!

Less you think I have totally abandoned my shabby side...  here is card number 2 featuring

I started with a Kraft card stock base (5.5 x 4.25 inches) and added a slightly smaller gold mat.
*** I created the mat with gold poster board you can pick up at your local craft store (so much cheaper)***   I pulled out some DP from the new Vintage Ephemera Paper Collection  and used the Sunburst Background Die to create my base.  I used a bit of DP and gold matting to create a banner nestled to the right strategically placed behind my flower display.  I stamped the sentiment found in the Good Man  stamp set on coordinating paper (Memento Tuxedo Black ink) and cut it to the desired size.  I added a slightly larger dark brown card stock mat.  I then used ODBD's Decorative Vase Die to cut/emboss the vase from another DP from the collection.  The die cut branches (Fancy Foliage Die) and ecru blossoms Birds and Nest Die nestle in nicely.  I added a bit of baker's twine around the vase before adhering with dimensional foam.

So here are the new products featured in my projects...
