CAS243 ~ Candy Cane ~

Today's card is for the Clean and Simple Challenge at SCS.  The challenge this time...  feature candy.  And with Christmas approaching in the next few months, I chose to use a candy cane image!  You may find the SCS gallery HERE.

And the Candy Cane stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs'...

I used red and white card stock, embossing the red layer with a candy cane embossing folder.  The image was colored with Copics before fussy cutting and adding dimensional glaze.  I added a dusting of glitter and allowed it to dry.  Then I added more dimensional glaze.  A few pearls adorn the die cut sentiment panel...  one of my favorite color combos...  red and white!

Are you ready for Christmas yet?  I'm sure humming Christmas carols...  Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings...

This week we feature this scripture from Galatians...

I used a sketch for the starting point combining similar DP from a couple of collections.  I printed the scripture sentiment directly on DP before cutting/embossing with an oval die.  I nestled a rhinestone and pearl flourish underneath with some mulberry blossoms and paper punched sprigs.  I added a few vines die cuts as well for interest.  The base panel has been distressed with a tea dye ink also.  So fun!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Until next time...

~ Thankful ~

Happy Tuesday!  I have a few days off and fortunately the weather has been mild.  I have been spending every moment I can outside.  I even resorted to working in the sheep barn yesterday!  :-)  My house needs attention but I know mild days will soon be a distant memory, so I plod on!  Today, I have a very simple card using a matted image from Papertrey Ink's First Fruits set.  I stamped it on a simple ivory panel and framed it with a nice houndstooth DP.

Hope you have a few minutes to craft today!  {{hugs}}
Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for my weekly Word Art Wednesday project!  I can't wait to show it!

Blessings...

Exploring Cricut ~ Happy Halloween ~

Welcome to another fun bi-weekly challenge at
Exploring Cricut

The challenge this week....

***  HAPPY HALLOWEEN  ***

Create a card, layout or paper craft for Halloween with your favorite Cricut cuts (at least 2 CUTS...)

I used Teddy Bear Parade and
George for my project this week...

I started out with a 5.5 x 4.25 black card stock base.  I followed up with a slightly smaller Kraft layer and a bit of burlap from my stash.  I cut little Miss Witch from Teddy Bear Parade at 4.5 inches.  I added dimensional glaze to the buckle on her hat before sprinkling it with glitter.  The moon (from George) is 2.5 inches.  After assembling all pieces, I added each to the card base with dimensional foam.  Super easy and cute!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies

Cartridges - Teddy Bear Parade, George
Papers - Bazzill, The Paper Studio, Geogia Pacific

North Coast Creations ~ Warmest Wishes ~

Good morning!  Are you dreaming of a nice warm beach somewhere?  I sure am!  With an expected high today of 72 today and 50 something tomorrow, things promise to be a bit chillier than normal in the Bluegrass state.  So in honor of my impossible dream of sand between my toes...

Today's project features Splitcoaststamper's weekly sketch shown HERE.  I stamped my image with black ink and added color with my Copics,  I lightly sponged pale blue ink to create my sky.  The sentiment (stamped in a bright blue) pops in the corner!  I just love this set from North Coast Creations.

Thanks for stopping by!  Come back tomorrow for the bi-weekly Exploring Cricut challenge!  {{hugs}}

MOJO315 & TSTR188 ~ Fall ~

Happy Saturday to you!  If your home is anything like mine we are busy cleaning our yard, finishing final repairs around the house and generally getting everything "ready" for this winter.  I hesitate to even mention the word, as I am not always a fan!  I love looking at snow from my window but when you work for a utility and have to be at work at 7AM AND bad weather makes your job even more crucial...  you get the drift...  NO PUN INTENDED!  :-)

As I mentioned earlier in the week, I feel that the Lord has laid it on my heart to share more "thoughts" or random ideas that come to me during my Bible studies and such.  If you are here to peruse my daily card, I do have one for you a bit further along.  If you aren't too busy though, I would like to share a little insight from my week.

Last weekend, hubs and I were planning a get together with the kids.  With the addition of a new DIL and grandson, our brood has gotten bigger.  And unfortunately, it seems difficult most days to get everyone together.  We had a bonfire earlier this year and everyone seemed to enjoy it.  So we decided to have another one this week.  Being the planner that I am, I pulled out my phone to check my weather App.  I was disturbed to find that the weather forecast called for "snow" the day we had tentatively planned.  Hubs checked his phone and insisted that the weather on his App said nothing about snow, much to my chagrin.  I was convinced that he obviously didn't look in the right place and our event was threatened.  Later in the morning, after stewing on this development for a bit, I checked the weather again and much to my amusement I realized my App was set for Baraga, Michigan, decidedly further north of our Kentucky home...  So I had to admit to my husband that I was miffed for nothing and that my own lack of attention led to the great "weather debate."  So the lesson here?  If you don't have the correct coordinates, everything gets skewed!  I had my phone App set to our favorite travel destination 14 hours north and as such the information I had was useless.

As Christians, if we don't have our coordinates set, reading our Bible, studying God's word and maintaining fellowship with a body of believers we can lose course.  You have to stay plugged in with the right information to be successful!  Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a wonderful day!

And on to today's card using the MOJO Monday sketch...

~ Exploring Cricut ~ A Happy Tree ~

Good morning!  Thanks for joining me for another fun Exploring Cricut post!  I'm excited to share a first time project using Create a Critter 2!  I've had this little gem awhile but hardly get to play!  I think this might be my new go to cartridge!

All cuts are at 4 inches.  My card base is a standard 5.5 x 4.25 inches.  I cut a shadow layer in Kraft.  I then cut two layers in orange and burgundy.  The final two layers are black (to shadow his happy face) and dark brown.  I added a bit of Stickles to my leaves for fun!  A super quick card that I can mass produce!  LOVE THOSE!

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to stop back by Monday for our bi-weekly challenge!  It promises to be FUN!  {{hugs}}

A Look Back at Our Daily Bread Designs October Release

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs October Release.  Can you believe that the month is winding down?  With Thanksgiving around the corner, I begin to kick my Christmas mojo into high gear.  Here is the card I created using Candy Cane.

and a close-up...

(after coloring the image with Copics and adding dimensional glaze, I added a bit of glitter...)

and an image of the stamp set...

There are several layers to this card.  I started out with a 5.5 x 4.25 inch red card stock base and added a white matted layer and then olive green.  The three colors mat/highlight a Christmas paisley print paper I choice for the final base layer.  I inked the edges of the paisley design with a tea dye distress ink.
I then cut a red/white snowflake print and embossed it with a geometric EF.  I cut the panel into 4  1.5 x 2.75 inch rectangles.  They were popped up with dimensional foam.  I stamped the sentiment (black) on white card stock before cutting/embossing with a Spellbinder die.

The candy cane (stamped on Copic compatible paper and colored) was covered with dimensional glaze before adding a light dusting of glitter.  Once my image dried, I fussy cut it and added it with dimensional foam to the bottom.  I think I need to try this with another one!  Thanks for looking!

 For more inspiration using the October Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.  And don't forget to check out what my DT sisters have come up with!  {{hugs}}

Warm Wishes

Good morning!  Thank you for stopping by!  I have struggled with something as of late and would like to take a moment to share before getting into today's project.  I often feel like I should "share" little things going on in my life, things I read, etc. but hate taking up your valuable time.  After a great deal of prayer and reflection, I feel that I NEED to present the thoughts God gives me.  So on occasion you will see more of my "thoughts."  If you are here strictly for perusing my projects please know that you are more than welcome to skip over my writings and go straight to the card.  You won't hurt my feelings a bit!  And I venture to say, I will never know, BUT I will know if I do not share something my Lord has laid on my heart.  That my friends is a feeling I DO NOT want to have!

Here's today's project using North Coast Creations' new October release, Let It Snow.

Here's the Let It Snow set...

I stamped the image on Copic compatible paper before coloring it with markers.  I added a soft blue ink on the background for sky.  A bit of glitter glue adorns the snowflakes and snowy ground.  A simple seam binding bow rests above the sentiment (stamped in black).  I wanted the image to stand out and I think the red / white scheme makes it pop!

Hope you have a wonderful day!  Don't forget to stop back by tomorrow for my Exploring Cricut post.  I also have a few more stamping projects to share over the coming days!  :-)

Blessings...

North Coast Creations' October Release

Welcome to the North Coast Creations October New Releases!  I am SO excited to be bringing you two cards featuring this month's new release!  AND NCC will be choosing 2 winners who will receive a $10 gift certificate to the store for stamps just for commenting on our Design Team cards!  You can leave some love AND possibly win a gift certificate!  How fun is that?

You have until October 17, 2013 at 10:00PM EDT to make a comment on each of our designers blog posts.  Our 2 random winners will be announced on the North Coast Creations Blog on October 18, 2013.

Both cards today have a Christmas theme.  One is just a bit non-traditional...  are you intriqued yet?  So here we go...

My first card using NCC's Let it Snow

I colored the image with Copics and used a scallop punch out to sponge my sky.  A few dabs of glitter glue on the snowflakes adds some bling.  A bit of lace and pearl trim to the side give this a feminine feel even though Mr. Snowman is decidedly manly in his top hat!  I stamped the sentiment with a bright blue ink and used a snowflake die cut to highlight it.  A bit of red ribbon and a black button add just a bit of color to the scene.  Here's the stamp set itself.  Isn't it just darling?

My second card is just a bit more bohemian.  I must say I think I might like celebrating Christmas on a beach somewhere...

I colored this scene with Copics also and added a soft sky blue at the top with ink and a sponge.  I used a postage stamp die cut and hand cut some stripes to add a faux postmark....

Here's the stamp set itself...

Don't forget to check out all the October Releases HERE.  And make sure to comment on all of the designer's blogs.  I know you NEED some more stamps right?  lol....

Good morning!  So glad you stopped by for a moment!  Today I have another card using Our Daily Bread Designs' Autumn Blessings set.   And as I have so often this week, I started with a sketch....

the sketch from Sketch Saturday...

I used a couple of leaves I had colored and left over from another project.  I triple matted some DP (chocolate, pumpkin and vanilla colors).  I used a bit of DP from another project at the top and added a sentiment stamped and cut with a die on the corner.  I used a simple gold staple from my stash to add it.  Super easy!  I LOVE projects like that!  :-)

If you look closely you will find a bit of corrugated cardboard I had in my stash...  Here's the sketch...

MOJO314 ~ Stripes That Are Red ~

Good morning!  I have a new stamp to share today.  I used Our Daily Bread Designs' set, Candy Cane.  I even managed to find DP that resembles a candy cane!

Here's an image of the set...

I used this week's Mojo sketch as my starting off point.  I used red card stock for the base (4.25 x 5.5 inches) and white matting.  I then added the trimmed down candy cane striped DP.  A die cut doily is nestled on top with a red matted sentiment banner.  I stamped the verse from the Candy Cane set on white with a crisp black ink.  A die cut poinsettia and greenery replace the sentiment panel from the sketch.  A red Offray satin ribbon ties it all up nicely!

Here's the sketch...

~ Golden Wreath ~

Happy Friday!  So excited that the weekend is here!  It's been a crazy busy week in the Ulrich household and I am looking forward to a few days of catching up around the house.  I am even excited to do laundry!  Yes...  someone needs to take my temperature!  lol

Today I have another simple Christmas card to share using Our Daily Bread Designs' Holly Wreath set.  I embossed the image with gold powder.

and here's the stamp set image...

I added some gold ribbon I had left over from another project and some jingle bells from my stash.  I can check another card off my list!  Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time...

~ Autumn, October, Homemade Apple Pie ~

Yum!  I must say all of those things sound great...  particularly the homemade apple pie!  Maybe with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top?  :-)  This fun sentiment came out as the CTMH September stamp of the month.  I couldn't resist.  I can't wait to use this banner stamp to create a banner for an autumn framed photo!

This time I opted to make a card...  a 5 x 7 gem...

The metal leaves came from a set I picked up at Michaels.  I thought about creating some sort of floral spray but decided it would cover up the sentiment too much.  This way if looks like the leaves are falling!  Just what you would see this time of year, right?

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Sparkling Snowflakes ~

Good morning!  Thanks for sharing a bit of your morning with me!  Today's card is a CAS project to honor this week's Splitcoast Featured Stamper.

The card created with a rectangular mask...

I used a rectangular die to create my mask and secured it with removable tape to the Kraft layer.  I added Colorbox Mica Magic in Pearl and Colorbox Ink in Frost White with a craft sponge.  I then added just a hint of Memento Desert Sand to all of the edges.  For a final bit of pizzazz, I spritzed the entire area with Glimmer Mist in Dazzling Diamonds and let dry.  I removed the mask and stamped random snowflakes with Versafine Onyx Black on the card and traced the edge with a black marker.  I also used a paper piercer to add another "frame."  Finally, I added my sentiment in the bottom right corner and ONE layer.  Something I RARELY try!  So fun!

Now here are the Our Daily Bread Designs products I used...

Thanks as always for stopping by and your sweet comments!  I appreciate it!  Stop back by tomorrow as I share another fun challenge from Word Art Wednesday.
