A Good Man - Faux Leather

Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here! I wanted to share a card I created last week using ODBD's Father's Day set. I know Father's Day won't be here until June but when inspiration strikes... ya just gotta go with it!

Here's the final product...

The base is kraft card stock with a heavily distressed green matting. I embossed the brown card stock using a Sizzix folder. After dry embossing, I inked up my brayer with Versamark Watermark Ink and rolled it over the embossed paper. Once the raised pattern was inked, I sprinkled it all with clear embossing powder, shaking off all excess. I then used a heat gun to emboss those areas. I stamped the image with Memento Rich Cocoa on kraft paper and embossed with a Spellbinder die, inking all edges. A Cheery Lynn Designs die gives the illusion of foliage. I then cut three flower cuts from Chricut's Flower Shoppe cart. Each cut had four petals until I removed one and glued it together. Now I have flowers that look like trillium one of my new favorite wildflowers! A few bits of Flowersoft finish off the centers! Thanks for visiting and don't forget to stop back by Saturday to see what next week's Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge will be! It will be fun!

Blessings...

SSC93 Father's Day

The ladies at Stampin' Sisters in Christ have issued another challenge. And naturally I have to play along! :-) This week, the ladies have asked participants to create a Father's Day card or a card celebrating our Heavenly Father. This card will be going to dear hubby. And even though our recent trip wasn't to the ocean I thought he might enjoy this. During our trip to Lake Superior we had the opportunity to see some beautiful lighthouses. Hopefully this will "brighten" his day and remind him of the fun trip we had. Here's hoping you have a wonderful week and I will see you again soon!

Blessings ~

Father's Day

Praying that everyone is having a blessed start to their week! I hope the sun is shining at your back door today (and might I add your front door as well... lol) Things have been a little chaotic at the Ulrich household. My youngest step-son has been home from college. Dear hubby has been to the doctor not once but three times now... with no signs of getting better! He has a nasty respiratory infection. Please add him to your prayers! He had pneumonia a few years back and I am deeply concerned at his failure to improve.

I am going to call today's card a Lori Lite... kinda like the Cricut lites... Usually my cards are elaborate but this time I decided to simplify. Not sure where this card will go this year but I'm sure one of the fellows in the family will love it! I look forward to being back soon with a not so Lori Lite posting... ;-)

Blessings to you and yours!

Lori

Faux Leather Father's Day Card

Hope everyone takes time out to shout out how much they love and appreciate dear old dad this Sunday! My father passed away 13 years ago (how can it be that long)... I miss him but particularly on this day. I do know another dad, dear hubby and decided to try a new technique on his card. I tried to make a faux leather card! The secret ingredient... a brown paper lunch bag... Cool, huh? I inked the paper bag, crumpled it and finally added ModPodge. I used a Gina K Designs stamp. I am playing with Prismacolor Premier markers now (notice the horse). Better than coloring with crayons as a kid! Thanks for looking!

Surprise!!! It's Best Bunny!

There is something about Granny Apple Green that just brings a smile to my face!  When the first signs of Spring appear you are sure to see...
