ODBD ~ Smile... God Loves YOU!

Good morning!  Today, I have a card to share using a few old favorites from Our Daily Bread Designs... including last month's Pretty Posies Die...

I started with an vanilla card stock base and used two coordinating patterns from ODBD's Soulful Stitches Paper Collection.  I cut my blossoms using the Pretty Posies Die and gently sponged each center with a soft yellow distress ink and the edges with a soft peach ink.  I spritzed each with water before using a stylus to shape the petals.  When they dried, I stacked each up and added a pearl center with clear glaze.  A few strategic vines (Fancy Foliage Die) hide the DP seam below.  I stamped the sentiment directly on the DP with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Here are the items you see...

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful Monday!

A Look Back at ODBD's September Mid Month Release

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs' September Mid Month Release. Here is the card I created using the Beauty stamp set, Pretty Posies Die and Leafy Edged Borders Die.  For more inspiration using the September Mid Month Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

I started with an ecru card stock base measuring 5.5 x 4.25 inches and added a lovely design paper pattern from ODBD's Soulful Stitches Paper Collection.  I used the new Leafy Edged Borders Die to create my DP, ecru CS and gold poster board layers.  I cut out multiple flower layers from ecru card stock and inked the centers with a soft yellow distress ink and the edges with a light pink ink.  After inking, I spritzed the flowers lightly with water and pinched each petal between my fingertips for depth.  After drying, I glued layers together, staggering each to overlap and finished the flower with a cluster of pearls glued in the center.  I cut my leaves out of ecru card stock also and inked it up with light green ink.  I used a bit of wire (yes, wire) to thread my lace on and twisted the ends together to make the lace collar.  I added the flower and leaves to the lace with hot glue.  **Creative tip**  I used ODBD's Circle Ornaments Die to cut a circular base to mount the lace collar and flower on.  After it dried, I added the entire embellishment to my card.    I stamped my sentiment on a bit of ecru paper and finished it up with ODBD's Pennants Die.

So here's a close up of the blossom...

And the new items from September's mid month release...

and a few older favorites too...

ODBD ~ I Am Praying ~

Early one morning, I puttered out to my car to shuttle off to work.  It was so early in fact, that it was still pitch dark outside.  I hopped in, started the engine and put my car in reverse to back my car up and leave my driveway.  My car has a backup camera and so as I rolled the car backward the familiar black and white screen came to life.  But what I saw on that screen almost caused me to have a heart attack!  All I could see on the screen was a large hairy blob with large hairy legs!  It took me a moment to realize that a tiny little spider was hanging on my camera.  And that tiny spider when magnified looked like something from a HORROR movie!  After I gathered my wits I realized just how true that moment was in the human experience.  Sometimes we take the tiniest of deals and blow them completely out of proportion UNTIL we are utterly terrorized by the idea of how big the problem is!  But the key is...  the problem really isn't that big...  WE JUST MADE IT OUT TO BE THAT WAY!  It's all about perspective...  and why worry?  God's got it anyway...

~ Birthday Blessings ~ September and More From ODBD

Good morning!  So glad you could stop by!  Today I have a shabby chic card to share using a menagerie of products and techniques.  Glitter, paint and even hairspray went into this creation...  so fun and oh so messy!  :-)

I started with a simple black card stock base. (5.5 x 4.25 inches to be exact...)  I added a slightly smaller DP from Our Daily Bread Designs' Soulful Stitches Paper Collection.  The edges were distressed with a distress tool and lightly inked with a pale khaki distress ink.  I stamped the doily image on ecru card stock (Doily Blessings) and used the coordinating Doily Die (mat image) to cut the image in shadow and the intricate die to cut/emboss a doily in black CS.  I layered both (slightly off center of each other to show the design).  I cut the heart out of thin cardboard (Ornate Hearts Die) and slathered it with shades of brown distress ink and white crackle paint.  I used my heat gun to speed the drying process and managed a slightly "cooked" look...  (wasn't what I was aiming for but it WORKED!)  I slathered the heart with crystal liquid adhesive and added a mixture of gold glitter and coarse silver glitter.  Once it dried, I sprayed it heavily with hairspray (hopefully to discourage any shedding and maintain hold...)  Then I spritzed the entire heart with a silver and gold glitter mist.  After it dried, I layered it up and added a die cut vine with ecru blossoms Fancy Foliage and Asters and Leaves.  Tiny ecru pearls finish the centers.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink on ecru Birthday Doily and cut it out with the Pennants Die.  I just love all the layers....

Happy Labor Day!  This year Labor Days falls on the first of September...  and you know what that means...  a new release at Our Daily Bread Designs!  This month we have beautiful dies, lovely stamps AND a new paper collection!  AND they celebrate the inner crafter in all of us!  I hope you enjoy browsing through the hop creations today as much as we enjoyed making them!

Now here are all of the important deets for this month's hop...

Three winners will be randomly chosen from the comments left on the designers' blogs to receive a $15 Gift Certificate to the ODBD Store.  The Gift Certificate is to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website.  You have until September 2, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments!  The winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on September 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

Are you excited yet?  I know I am!  ;-)  Here's one of the projects I created this month using the new Doily Die, Soulful Stitches Paper Collection and Birthday Doily stamp set.

I used a soft green card stock for the base and a Kraft mat.  I added two slivers of coordinating paper (one a soft green houndstooth and the other a pink and green weave) from the Soulful Stitches Paper Collection.  I used the outer Doily die to create the Kraft base and the inner intricate design to cut another panel out of another sheet from the paper collection.  I chose a sentiment from Birthday Doily and stamped it in the center with black ink.  I used a few older dies to create my flower and vine spray.  A few adhesive pearls placed strategically along with button centers for my flower add a bit of texture.  I just love this pairing!  So fun!

Here's the items you see from this month's release...

and some old favorites...

Now on to my second project using the Hand Knit stamp set and coordinating Knitting Basket & Yarn Die.  Look closely and you will see the Soulful Stitches Paper Collection again as well!

I roughed up some of the DP and added it to a soft green CS base.  I used the Vintage Labels to cut and emboss my green CS base and the scripture panel.  Sandwiched in-between is a die cut using Vintage Flourish Pattern Die and Soulful Stitches Paper Collection.  I used the Hand Knit stamp set to create my sentiment panel and images.  I stamped the images on Copic compatible paper and colored before cutting with the Knitting Basket & Yarn Die.  I placed those slightly askew from the sentiment panel and finished with a pink seam binding bow, crochet button from my stash and an ecru pearl flourish.  A bit of glitter glue highlights the "knitting needles" on the die cuts.
