WAW160 ~ James 1:17 ~ Every Good Gift

It's time for another fabulous, fun and inspirational challenge

Be sure to check out the Word Art Wednesday site for all of the details including this week's digital scripture, how to link your creation AND info on some fabulous prizes!

We appreciate our sponsor's generosity so very much!  Please take a few moments to thank those who provided our prizes this week!

This week we are visiting the book of James...  a powerful reminder of where our blessings come from...

This week, I decided to use die cuts to create a turkey image.  I printed our scripture on Kraft paper and used a circle die to cut it and a smaller circle for the head.  I split a leaf paper punch (red CS) to create the gobbler.  The beak is also a die cut.  I chose a variety of Thanksgiving/Fall themed papers and used an oval die to create feathers.  A few bits of dimensional foam, help him jump off the page!

Thanks for taking a few moments to stop by!  And have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Giving Thanks

For all my friends in the United States, Happy Thanksgiving! I will be spending this one with my step-son's family. We are looking forward to turkey and all the trimmings, parades and maybe a football game or two! After the mess is gone many people will pull out the paper and start making their Friday shopping list. Of course many have already scoped out the online ads weeks ago!

There are so many things to be thankful for at the Ulrich home this year. And most certainly one of mine is the chance to spend time today with family and friends. We are all healthy and happy! What a blessing that is these times! I am thankful to live in a country where I can do what I love and say what I wish. There is no fear of persecution or retaliation for being a Christian. And most importantly, I am so thankful for my Lord who gave his life on Calvary for me.

What a blessing it is to work with such fine folks at Our Daily Bread Designs. Kelley and crew have such wonderful hearts! And in celebration of what we as a team are thankful for Kelley is starting a Giving Thanks sale at ODBD today! Exploring Cricut - Let's Talk Turkey!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is only a few days away? Yikes! This year has flown by (no pun intended...) There are so many things I am thankful for this year. I am thankful for my family, wonderful career and I am thankful for you! I have met some wonderful folks while blogging the last few years. Your wonderful comments, support and prayers mean so much! Thank you for being you! I pray this Thanksgiving will find you surrounded by loved ones sharing and creating family memories!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Exploring Cricut has issued a challenge for us to talk turkey! The design team was asked to create a project using our favorite Cricut turkey. I started out creating "Tom" for a floral arrangement but decided he would serve my purposes better on a scrapbook page. After all, I plan on taking some Thanksgiving photos this year! Enjoy and don't forget to hop over to Exploring Cricut to link your creations! You just might win! Blessings...

Autumn Blessings

The last few cards have dealt with blessings. In honor of that I decided to share one of my favorite Bible verses today. Our country has been nurtured and protected by our heavenly Father for over 300 years. Our country has a wonderful Christian heritage. With him all things are possible! Blessings!

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance."
Psalm 33:12

Giving Thanks

There are many things to give thanks for each and every day. We are never promised a tomorrow and for those who know the Lord Christ as their Savior there is the comfort of spending eternity with him. I am thankful for my family, my country and my Lord. There are so many blessings that he has given me. I deserve none of them. It is only through his grace and mercy that I can even be called a Child of the King.

As you may know this week I have taken a slight sabbatical from blogging. There have been many changes this week. If you read my last post you know that our son left for school last Sunday. I had a difficult few days dealing with that. A day later I found out that a cousin had been killed while serving as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan. The entire family is very proud of this young man and his sacrifice but it is difficult for his mother and grandmother to understand. Death is difficult to understand and hard to cope with when you do not know the peace that passes all understand. Thank you in advance for your prayers for this family. And above all give thanks for the blessings in your life. They are plentiful!

Notes on image - the two pumpkins outside the basket are actually a stamped image. I first stamped them on two sheets of paper (one on Gina K. paper and the other on scrap paper) and then cut the scrap image out. I used this as a mask over the good image (stamped on Gina K) and then stamped my basket over it. Removed the mask and voila! This way the basket appears to be behind the pumpkins. This is known as "masking" an image.

Grateful

There are many things I am grateful for this holiday season. And one mentor in particular comes to mind. A dear church friend has been battling cancer this year. For almost 8 months she has taken chemo treatments every other week. Each time I see her she seems more and more frail but her spirit... She is still the same vibrant and vivacious woman she always was! She is so much stronger than I could ever be! Since early this spring I have made it a mission to send her a handmade card each week. This week I received the most wonderful gift. She sent me a handwritten card expressing how much she loves each and every one. She has lined them up on her mantle and kitchen table. Her note says each time she feels down or sick she picks one out to look at and remembers me! I have to admit I cried like a baby. It amazes me that even in such a dark time she thinks of and prays for me! And so I am deeply thankful for Sharon and her love! I created this card to express my gratitude for her example and love! Hope you enjoy!
