What, Me Worry?
Hooray! Friday is almost here and I have a fun new card to share! I keep seeing all these cards with fun bottle top embellishments on the ribbon. So I decided there had to be a way that little old me could do it! After a few scorched fingers, I figured it out... lol... So stay tuned as dear hubs (aka video producer at ScrappinSaints! Productions has started fine tuning a video). I hope to have it posted Saturday for your viewing amusement... and I do say amusement... I didn't realize how thick my accent was until I started filming these things... lol... I may have to give up on videos... lol... In the meantime check out the card above and I will post more later this week. Blessings to you and yours!

Faithfulness, Mercy and Love
I thought I would pop in today and share a new card. I tried my hand at making a "tissue paper" flower. I really like the look but I think I need "more" practice. lol... But it was fun trying it... Thanks as always for hanging out with me! I look forward to catching up with you again!

Happy 4th of July!
Happy Monday to ya! I smell a nice LONG weekend coming, what about you??? I am so excited! But I am even more excited about the card I have to share today! This card was truly a labor of love! And boy did I ever labor over that ribbon... lol... It was a bear! But I have to say I LOVE the results! And even better, most of the items I used today were found at my local Big Lots! And no, I do not own stock in the company... though I should! The stamp I used was a $2 score along with the chipboard stars (for $1.00). You can't get any better than that! In my experience, you have to keep checking their crafts supplies because it does change frequently. However, you can get some great things there! And one of our dear alumni (Miss Mabel the St. Bernard) will be featured in this weekend's ad). So if you get the Big Lots circular, check it out! She will be modeling a foam pet bed! I received my email today with her lovely mug in it! So I have two reasons to hang out there... lol...
Well on to today's card...

Some News PLUS a Card!
Whew! Vacation Bible School came to a close Friday night. It is hard to believe the week is already over! I am sad to see it go. This year I had the privilege of working with the 5th and 6th grade girls. We had a blast! I remember Vacation Bible School fondly and I know these ladies will too. Pray for continued blessings on them and their families as they take what they learned out into the world!
In addition, I have some exciting news to share. A few months back, I had the distinct pleasure of working as a guest challenge team member for Our Daily Bread Designs. Many of you know, I am a huge fan of their stamps. Beginning July 9th, I will be joining the Shining the Light Challenge Team. I am so thrilled that Kelley (the owner) and Chris (challenge team coordinator) asked me to come back! The ladies are absolutely wonderful! I just can't say enough about how gracious they have been to me. So please make a point to come out and play! I would love to see you there!
And on to today's card...

Thank you!
Thank you to Cindy over at Scrap-Obsessed for awarding me the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award. In order to accept this award I have to name 7 things about myself and pass this on to 8 other bloggers!
Here goes!
1. In college I wanted to become a history teacher before changing my major to Finance.
2. Due to above said love of history, all of my St. Bernards are named for historical figures. (ex. Morgan is named for General John Hunt Morgan, CSA and Ike is named for President Dwight David Eisenhower)
3. I hated art in school. (Kinda ironic, huh?)
4. I really, really want to visit the Grand Canyon...
5. My eyes are really gray... I've worn blue contacts for 15 years...
6. My middle name is Kathryn... a middle name shared by one aunt and two cousins...
7. And I am 3 years behind in scrapbooking my photos... YIKES!
Thanks again Cindy for honoring me with this award! Here are some lovely ladies I enjoy following!

Service and a Servant's Heart
Happy Thursday to you! I created today's card for Faithfully Yours. If you haven't had a chance to check out this blog, please do. Dawn has created a wonderful place for you to explore "faithbooking." Dawn's blog goes into great detail sharing what faithbooking is all about. It turns out it is recording and sharing our journeys of faith. Seems like I have been "faithbooking" for quite a while now! I love the idea that I can share my faith with those who receive my cards and those who read my blog! How cool is that? So be sure to check it out! I have a short devotion along with today's card posted there. And thanks Dawn for allowing me to take this "faithbooking" journey with you!
Blessings ~

Inaugural Video Tutorial - Lace Collar Embellishment
This week is a little "crazy" at the Ulrich household. We are in the midst of VBS at our church... Kool-aid, cookies and tons of kids.... It is so awesome to see God's hand in their lives and how He can change their heart... Pray for us this week as we minister to the next generation...
I thought I would hop in today and post a short video demonstrating how to make a lace collar for embellishing cards. Recently I posted a card for a challenge over at the Shabby Tea Room. Several folks asked "how did you do that?" So I ventured into the world of YouTube and video tutorials... Yikes! It may be the last by Saintsrule! Productions... lol... Thanks to dear hubby for his help on this!
And thanks so much to the lovely ladies over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ for selecting my card this week as a "Shining Star." I love hanging out with those ladies. They always share such wonderful devotions to lift your spirits! Thanks girls! Blessings to you and enjoy the show...
FYI - I used 8 lace segments on this particular collar... you can use more or less! Thanks for watching!

SSC94 - Doodles
I must confess I am a terrible doodler (if that is even a word.) I never doodled on notebooks or even a scratch piece of paper in school. I was too afraid of getting in trouble for not paying attention. Yes, I was quite the square peg! So this week's challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ was quite a challenge! I had trouble matching up any pens to the ink I used so I improvised and used a Copic. It is very faint but I did a faux stitching around the white areas of the card. So here's to writing on things even if it makes you uncomfortable... Now if I can just work on those other OCD tendencies... lol... Hope you make it a great week!

Pink Lemonade
This week the ladies at The Shabby Tea Room are hosting a "Pink Lemonade" challenge. It was inspired by a lovely photo you can see here. There is nothing quite as wonderful as sipping a cool glass of lemonade while sitting on your front porch. And did I mention sitting in a wicker swing? Sweet! This particular scripture seems so fitting. He does make everything beautiful in His time. We just have to stop and appreciate it! Blessings!

Paper Pleating
Happy Wednesday to you! The weekend is almost here! And today I am jumping on the paper pleating bandwagon. That's right... paper pleating! Splitcoaststampers posted a fabulous tutorial today. And I could not wait to try it out! This card is a little different for me. It is definitely a cleaner look than what I am used to! But I love it and who knows... maybe this will be the next creative phase of my life... lol... (I really don't think I can give up lace...) Thanks as always for looking and I will see you soon! SSC93 Father's Day
The ladies at Stampin' Sisters in Christ have issued another challenge. And naturally I have to play along! :-) This week, the ladies have asked participants to create a Father's Day card or a card celebrating our Heavenly Father. This card will be going to dear hubby. And even though our recent trip wasn't to the ocean I thought he might enjoy this. During our trip to Lake Superior we had the opportunity to see some beautiful lighthouses. Hopefully this will "brighten" his day and remind him of the fun trip we had. Here's hoping you have a wonderful week and I will see you again soon!
Blessings ~

Today's card was an attempt at Mojo Monday... except you can tell my mojo wasn't quite on target. lol... I couldn't manage to mimic the sketch to my satisfaction so I decided to leave it as it. I won't be submitting this one but I like it nonetheless. Sometimes we just need to be happy with what we have, right? Hope you are enjoying your Sabbath and we will talk again soon! Blessings.

Magnolia Summer - ODBDSLC63; MMSC107
Recently, John and I purchase a couple of Magnolia trees for our property. The boys planted one by my Mother's home and the other outside my back door. The last few days they have been opening their showy buds to reveal the most beautiful ivory blossoms. I love Magnolias and I LOVE to use their shiny leaves at Christmas time to decorate our home. Last December, when we went to Colonial Williamsburg, I drooled over all the beautiful trimmings. This beautiful magnolia blossom is from a set by Petaloo. I added some trims (from Petaloo as well.) I them pulled out my trusty pine branch punch and added some "sticks." This time I let the scripture be the focus... Song of Solomon 2:12... I know I feel like singing when I see those delightful blooms...

Delft Tile - Day 2
Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well! I shared yesterday my attempt at a new technique for me, Delft tile. Well I had so much fun with it, I decided to do another card ***insert practice a little more*** and post here. I found this Hero Arts background stamp in my stash and boy did it make a difference! It seems easier for me to use a larger stamp when trying this technique. I really like how this one turned out. I even pulled out the Scor-Pal to do some accenting on the bottom of my card (above and below the sentiment). Very clean and very simple... Thanks as always for checking in!

Whew! I'm back! Things have finally settled down enough that I can return to the craft table! And the ladies at Stampin' Sisters in Christ have just the perfect recipe to challenge me! This week, participants can use something "new" to them. I chose both a new technique (Delft Tile) and product (stamps by My Mind's Eye)!
Recently I spotted a tutorial by Julie Warner about Delft Tile on Splitcoaststamper. Well, when I spotted a beautiful Delft ornament in Frankenmuth, Michigan, I was hooked! I had to come back and try this technique. Hope you get a chance to try something new this week in your papercrafting!

I'm back... but no project today...
Wow! I just had to take a moment to share this lovely photo from our trip. John and I took a few days off and embarked on a road trip. I am notorious for stay cations... the kind that involve painting rooms, yard work and other major projects... Are you with me on this??? I just can't stand to not do SOMETHING! So dear hubby put his foot down... very politely, I might add... and insisted we leave home for a few days. And knowing that if Lori stays within a days driving distance ***she will find a reason to come home and do something*** dear hubby took me to the Upper Penisula. He knew I wouldn't be in a hurry to come across that bridge... ***Yes, I am afraid of bridges and WATER***
We started off driving to a presidential grave site (Rutherford B. Hayes) and then ventured to Frankenmuth, Michigan to take in Bronners and the fabulous German food. I have to admit for a girl who doesn't like water, I fell hard for the U.P.! Today's photo was taken at Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore outside Munising, Michigan. As I look at this photo of Miner's Falls I can still feel the spray of water on my face ***not to mention the blackbird sized mosquitoes*** It was wonderful! And we are already talking about making it a regular trip. The trip brings to mind this scripture -
"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10
I will be back soon with some projects! And thanks for reading! Blessings.

Pledge of Allegiance
I love red, white and blue! It is one of my favorite combos. And when I found this fun line of paper by My Mind's Eye... well I almost danced in the store aisle! ;^) Memorial Day always puts me in that frame of mind. As hubby and I travel this week we will pull out our trusty road atlas to monitor how to get from point A to point B. (And the GPS too...) Kinda like the sketch challenge over at ODBD. I love taking card stock (point A) following the map (the sketch) and seeing the finished product (point B). The only limits are those I place on myself! ***** And by the way, I am having so much fun traveling, I missed the deadline...(insert sad face here...) But I decided to publish it anyway!
With that theme in mind today, I pulled some old tried and true images from Our Daily Bread Designs. I have fond memories of standing in homeroom as a child reciting the Pledge. Gosh, I'm dating myself... we even had devotions and the ten commandments on our classroom wall!!! Today the ACLU would have a field day with that... Kinda ironic... it seems when our nation is in trouble, we recognize the Creator but otherwise our country has no room for Him...
Something to think about... Blessings to you and yours. We will chat again soon!
