~ A Golden Happy Birthday ~

Yesterday was a huge milestone for my Mother.  She turned 80 years old!  So over the past few weeks, as we have prepared to celebrate her special day, I have been in the mood to create a bevy of birthday cards.  For today's project, I opted to go with a gold and white color scheme with just a dash of black (for the sentiment).  I used a few of Our Daily Bread Designs' new releases, including the Vintage Bird Labels stamp set and Trellis Die.

I started with a white card stock base measuring 4.25 x 11 inches, scored and folded at 5.5 inches...

Layer by Layer...

Gold Poster board cut slightly larger than the next layer...
  1. White Card Stock - ODBD's Pierced Rectangles Die
  2. Gold Poster Board - ODBD's ***NEW*** Trellis Die; 3 adhered side by side with dimensional foam to white CS base
  3. White Card Stock - ODBD's Ornate Ovals Die (white scallop you see peeking out below the sentiment panel...)
  4. Gold Poster Board - ODBD's Pierced Ovals Die
  5. White Card Stock - ODBD's Vintage Labels Die - stamped and embossed with gold Embossing Powder using ODBD's ***NEW*** Vintage Bird Labels Die (image and sentiment stamped in black)
  6. White Seam Binding Bow

Here are the new items you see used on today's project...

Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes Challenge ~

Good morning and welcome to a new bi-weekly challenge at Word Art Wednesday!  This week we have a wonderful digital image featuring scripture from the book of Mark.  To find the scripture featured and details of how you can play along in the #242-#243 challenge hop over to Word Art Wednesday for all the details.  But before you check it out, take a moment to look at the card I created using our featured digi!

and using this week's MOJO #459 sketch shown here...

I printed my sentiment on DP (all papers are Pebble's Spring Fling Paper Collection).  I used a black card stock base (4.5 x 5.5 inches) with a white mat base for all three DP strips.  I framed my sentiment panel with black card stock, added a coordinating banner plus a fun flower created with ODBD's Pretty Posies Die and distress ink.  A Recollections pearl flourish finishes it off.

Thanks so much for looking and don't forget to visit Word Art Wednesday for the digi and to play along!  Blessings...

~ Our Daily Bread Designs ~Heartfelt Counsel~

Good morning friends!  Hot weather has given way to rain showers in my part of the world.  This is a welcome relief for my parched backyard.  Cracks in the earth are drinking in sweet provisions from heaven and the Saints...  they are loving the reappearance of mud puddles!

Rain allows me to focus on inside chores like laundry and cleaning.  I have been working on a few minor changes in my dining room and hope to add a fresh coat of paint in the coming days.  It is amazing what a bit of rearranging, refinishing and restoring can do to a space.  After 12 years in our home, I find myself longing to mix things up a bit.  So as I spruce up the house and slather on some new paint, I wonder when was the last time I added some "fresh paint" to spruce things up in my spiritual house.  When was the last time I did an in depth Bible study, read a great Faith based book, watched a family movie or spent dedicated time in His word?  I guess a fresh coat of paint is always in order.  Paint on Master, paint on...

Our Daily Bread Designs - A Friend Loves at All Times

Good morning!  It has been so hot here the last few days.  The Saints are determined to stay in.  They give me this look like...  hey Mom, we like snow not this...  So while they lounge under the nearest shade tree, I am working on cards...

And here is one featuring Our Daily Bread Designs'  A True Friend stamp set and Ornate Ovals Die...

This time I opted to color my Iris a rich blue purple...  using a few of my favorite Copic colors...
B63, B79, G21, YG67 and Y17
Since I didn't have the mid tone color between B63 and B79... I improvised.  I picked up some of the darker shade on the tip of the lighter...  and colored away...  Perfect way to make your Copic collection go further!

So here is a layer by layer break down of today's card...
Purple Card Stock (CS) 4.25 by 11 inches, scored and folded at 5.5 inches
  1. Silver Poster Board cut and embossed with ODBD's Pierced Rectangles Die

  3. Purple CS - ODBD's Pierced Rectangles Die

I mentioned my love for these gorgeous flowers in an earlier post.  And this color is one of my favorites!  Thanks as always for stopping by!  Stop back by this week as I share a couple of new projects.  And don't forget next week we enter a new month...  and that means a new release from Our Daily Bread Designs amd a blog hop!  It promises to be so much fun!
