JUGS143, WAW35 & IBSIC15 ~ You Are Not Forgotten

I am so thankful to have a few days of vacation! Remember how I waxed eloquent about dust bunnies earlier in the week? Yep, they are still with me! I believe the dust bunnies are safe! But my blog isn't! I popped in to share another card I created with our nation's birthday in mind. So many people over the years have contributed to our freedom going back to the Revolutionary War. It is important to remember those who sacrificed here at home and on foreign battlefields. Many gave their lives to preserve, protect and defend the freedoms we enjoy. Today's card is for a very special Gold Star Mother. Please, today before you enjoy good food, fun and fellowship, please say a prayer... a prayer for those in harm's way! God bless you and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Today's project is a 4 x 6 card. I cut 1/2 inch red card stock strips and overlapped them to resemble siding. After placing my door die (white card stock)in the center I used a brick embossing folder (also on white card stock) to create my brick. I inked the embossed panel with Memento ink and cut a  1 inch strip (glued on the bottom) and a 1/2 inch piece (layered on top to create the step.) My flower pot is a circle punch cut on each end. I added a heavy layer of Flower Soft along with some paper punched fronds and sprigs. The flowers are also paper punches. The star was punched from gold paper and lightly scored on the back to give it dimension. I added a swath of ribbon under it and attached it to the door. The doorknob is a simple gold dew drop. I also added a tiny gold card stock kick plate for interest. This sentiment (Our Daily Bread Designs' Not Forgotten set) is perfect for cards going to our military or their loved ones!  They are a must have for your collection if you are like me and LOVE anything patriotic!  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!!!

MOJO245 ~ Stand Firm ~

Things have been busy around the Ulrich household.  Unfortunately my Cricut is still MIA...  Let's NOT talk about that...  LOL...  So in the meantime I am making due with the help of some dear friends and a massive collection of stamps!

This is the second post for me today.  Today is the first chance I have had to work on the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  So at the risk of boring you to death today, I am posting something else.  Here's the sketch...

And here's my attempt...

I used coordinating papers from the Be Amazing Collection by My Mind's Eye. The stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs may be found in the Not Forgotten set.  The flower is a happy creation I came upon while reading another blog, Clare's Creations. Clare Buswell has this fabulous tutorial on how to make paper carnations. Unfortunately, I do not own the Sizzix die she referred to in the video but I improvised! I pulled out a 5 petal paper punch by Stampin' Up and went to work. I followed her instructions to the letter with the exception of the paper punch.  I really like how it turned out! Be sure to check out the link to her blog above for the details! Thanks for stopping by! Blessings...
