Copics and Redheads

Sorry it has been so long since my last post! Normally after work each day, I venture into my studio to get some work done. This week has not gone as planned on several levels. We are awaiting the pickup of one of our last puppies. And though I am sad to see her go, I know she will be loved in her new furever home... I took a trip to our state capital, Frankfort, on Thursday to meet with our state representative. I enjoyed seeing my state government in action. But I wonder how they get anything done! It is truly a chaotic process! Wednesday of course we had Bible study...

I love my life but it seems a little crazy right now! lol

For my prayer warriors, I ask particular consideration for a project I have been asked to do. I am creating a card for a young lady's 9th birthday. Her grandma asked me to make her something special. This card is the one time of year they have contact and I want this to be something to either break down barriers and/or soften hearts. Please pray for guidance on this endeavor!

Today's project was inspired by a dear friend, who asked for some color suggestions on coloring hair with Copics. I hope to shoot some video tutorials in the coming months on this topic. But today's creation is showcased the old fashioned way! I'm focusing on red hair! Enjoy and thanks again for reading!

A Breath of Fresh Air

Do you remember fashion trends? I remember when shaker knit sweaters and leggings were in... Yes... serious eighties child here... lol....

For some reason certain color combos stick with me. About 8 years ago lime green and pink made a big splash in the fashion world. I got onboard and bought a cute fabric purse very similar to the paper in today's card. I love the crispness of the look. The color combo reminds me of spring. And gracious knows, we can use some bright colors on these dreary winter days!

I colored the Tilda image over a year ago and unfortunately did not write the color combos down. (I am trying to use up some of the images I have stashed!) Look for a few more over the coming days without color info. Hope you enjoy a little breath of fresh air and be sure to breathe some new life into your crafting this week! Shake it up and use some new color combos. It might be just the lift you need. Blessings!

Tilda Picking Lilacs

I find myself coloring tons of images with flowers in them! I think I must be focused on spring! lol... One of my favorites would have to be old fashioned lilacs. About 3 years ago my mother moved from the farm I was grew up on. My parents moved there in 1968. All total she lived there for over 40 years! There was a beautiful lilac bush there. The original cutting came from my grandmother when Mom and Dad first moved. There's no telling how old the original specimen was. Grandmother was born in 1896! That lilac had such a wonderful aroma. When Mom moved I failed to take a cutting. I did get one from a rose that came from Grandmother's place. Maybe this spring I will go back and ask the new owners if I can take a cutting! It's kinda cool to think of three generations of women caring for that lilac! This stamp from Magnolia reminds me of that sweet lilac! I hope you enjoy the image as much as I do!

Dear Sweet Magnolia...

Can you believe this little cutie has been languishing on my desk? She kept waiting for me to do something with her! I purchased the paper a while back while visiting an out of town scrapbook store. This little lady looks like she has finally met her match! I think the image works well with the Bo Bunny paper. Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday. Friday is almost here!

It's all about the leaves...

I have to confess... as a child I LOVED to jump into piles of freshly raked leaves! I'm not sure that my Mom knew I was doing this. I feel pretty sure the dog got blamed a lot for my mischief! :-) There is nothing quite like just diving into those leaves and scattering them everywhere.

I spotted this idea over at the Scrap Bitz blog. Suzanne used a paper bag to punch leaves out as an embellishment. I took it a little further and actually incorporated a paper bag not only into the embellishments but the design itself.

This stamp from Magnolia captures the innocence of childhood so well. Who says you have to give up jumping into a pile of leaves just because you're over twenty? I may have to test this theory... LOL... Have a wonderful day!

Mary Had a Little Lamb

We have sheep. Do you know why the bible refers to us as sheep so much? I am convinced it is because we are so stubborn and refuse to follow our Lord! They are beautiful creatures but boy can they do some dumb things! Sound familiar? (Great big finger pointing back at me...) Anytime I see a stamp with sheep I can't help myself. This stamp from Magnolia reminds me so much of the innocence of childhood. It even reminds me of the beauty of those little lambs. It's just a shame they have to grow up... kinda like teenagers... Romance

Here is another shot I took on the grounds of My Old Kentucky Home yesterday. When I think of romance and flowers I don't often think of the Purple Coneflower. It seems terribly prickly after all. But after closer inspection I came to appreciate it's beautiful design. You see butterflies love them! And their delicate petals stretch back perfectly so the occasional butterfly can stop by and enjoy. Even though they have not been blessed with a wonderful aroma like the rose they have the most beautiful purple color. I tried to mimic that with today's card. This one is a 5 X 5 inch design. Those pesky sentiments....

Do you ever have trouble figuring out what to do with one of your sentiment stamps? Sometimes you buy a set and only use one or two. This week I decided to pull out one I had never used and create a card with it. Once I pulled the stamp out and gave it some thought another stamp I had purchased recently came to mind. I paired them together with the above results! Now I have to figure out what to do with those other 30 stamps... LOL
