I framed my image with a lovely die and added the scripture panel to the side.  This time I opted to use fall colors since the image begged to be colored in rich shades of orange and brown.

This scripture was so timely this week.  I have been struggling with printer issues (thanks to dear hubs for taking SO much time fixing it...)...  The devil has been working overtime for sure!  But when you have God on your side, nothing else really matters.  Right??

I printed the scripture on card stock before cutting with Spellbinders' Labels Seventeen.  I cut another layer (orange) and split it in half before adhering to the back.  It gives it a nice shadow look.  I embossed the DP (a DCWV pack) with a floral EF and added some paper punched leaves and cloth sunflower.  I just had to pull out some fall colors!  Love 'em!  Thanks for stopping by!

CAS233 ~ Blessed ~

Yes, I am truly blessed!  Yesterday's Sunday School lesson challenged me to come up with all of the ways I have been blessed over the years. 

Whew!!!  Once I started to put pen to paper, I realized just how richly I have been.  I have a wonderful family, career and home.  My church family and all of the crafting friends I have made over the years... 

And I just have to say, crafters are some of the most AMAZING people in the world!!!  There isn't a warmer bunch of people, whether you like to sew, paint or work with paper...  your love and support just blesses my heart!  So yes, I am very blessed in so many ways and by so many people!  Thank you to everyone reading today!  You truly bless me!

It's been a while since I created a shaker card. So this rotation I opted to tuck some Autumn Flower Soft in the window for interest. I love this quote. It is appropriate for every season and I can't help but think of caramel apples this time of year! YUM!

CDS ~ It's the Great White Pumpkin!

Good morning dear friends!  I'm popping in to show you a minimalist pumpkin.  I wanted to created a white image and used some earthtone Copics to do it.  A great deal of black and white plus some Copic boo boos (please overlook those) and here it is... 

The image and sentiment may be found in Clear Dollar Stamps' Digi set, Autumn Blessings. After printing my image on Neenah paper, I lightly colored it with E50, E53 and E000 before blending with 0. The key to working with printer images, make sure to let the image set and cure overnight. You can also use a hair dryer or heat gun to set the ink. I prefer to just let it cure. SO much easier and less stressing for me! :-) The base is a combo of two die cuts from Spellbinders recent release, Marvelous Squares. A few pearls and a fun polka dot ribbon and you are done! I think I like orange pumpkins better... ;-) Thanks for stopping in...

MOJO259 ~ Harvest of Memories

Thanks for stopping in!  I hope you and yours are having a wonderful, worship filled and restful Sabbath!  As I write this, I am preparing for a short business trip and attempting to tie up some loose ends.  Tons of laundry, dishes and the like to do...  plus I am frantically preparing posts for the upcoming weeks! 

I have several fun projects this week.  For Cricut fans, I will post a couple of Exploring Cricut projects this week.  Our Daily Bread Designs' weekly Shining the Light Challenge is Tuesday PLUS I will be joining the alumni crew for a hop Thursday!  I will also share a cute card using some digis from Clear Dollar Stamps.  It promises to be a fun filled week! 

In the meantime, I am sharing my take on the weekly Mojo sketch shown here...

And my interpretation...

I had the opportunity to attend a card class a few nights ago. My friend Emily, created some fun projects for us to do. We talked about the plethora of stamps we own... (and how there must be a ten step program for this...) Sadly, I realized I have a stack of cute fall images that I am under utilizing. So today, I pulled out one and knocked some dust off of it. I chose Close To My Hearts' So Grateful set.

I stamped the pumpkin image with a slightly lighter ink followed by the word layer in a deeper shade. I also stamped the leaf in several colors and cut them out individually to add with dimensional foam. I embossed the background with an embossing folder to mimic lattice. The circle form tucked in behind the focal panel is a bit of burlap cut with a Spellbinder die. Instead of my normal spray of flowers, I grouped together some random buttons. It feels a bit more like fall to me...

What a glorious day in Kentucky!  The sun is shining, temps are mild and God's glorious creation surrounds me!  I absolutely LOVE this time of year!  Rich colors, crisp air and the beauty that is an autumn afternoon... 

With that theme in mind, I pulled out a variety of papers and images to create a card celebrating the season.  I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch...

And my take...

I distressed and inked the gingham layer before dry embossing with a fun paisley folder. I placed a couple of strips of faux "wood planking" behind the sentiment panel for that fall farm feel. Doesn't it remind you of a fabulous apple orchard on a crisp fall afternoon? The leaves and acorn are stamps that I inked on coordinating papers and hand cut for interest. A few ecru pearls and a strategically placed flourish add some bling. And just for fun I added a few buttons with cotton cording.

  I just LOVE fall! Can't you tell? :-)

Clear Dollar Stamps Digi September Release ~

Good morning!  So glad to see you! 

I have some special news to share.  For the next few months (4 to be exact)  I will be working with and sharing some new items.  I have joined the Clear Dollar Stamps Digital Crew! 

What is a digital?  I'm trying my hand at working with digital stamps, or those you print right off of your PC and create with.  You can manipulate sizes and colors...  They are so versatile!  And that makes your creative possibilities endless!  So to celebrate the occasion, I have a few projects to share using a couple of new September releases.  Be sure to check out the CDS Blog and Clear Dollar Stamps website to find details on how to purchase plus a fabulous tutorial on working with Digis...  I look forward to sharing more wonderful digi stamps of faith from Clear Dollar...  So let's dive in...

For my first card I selected Lori McCroskey's Leaves set...

 

Isn't it darling!  I printed the digital background with the lovely inspirational message and cut/embossed it with a Spellbinders die.  I added a bit of dark brown card stock cut with the coordinating Petite Scalloped die.  The maple leaf (also a digi from this set) was altered to give it a warm orange color and hand cut before placing it on top with dimensional foam.  The DP layer was lightly distressed on all edges and inked for depth.  I just love this image!  So simple and so very elegant!

 

Now for another peek...  This one uses Austin Owen's Garden set.

 



 

This one is so yummy!  I can't get enough of inspirational quotes and C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite authors.  So this set immediately grabbed my eye and my heart!  The base is 6 x 6 inches and is double matted.  The houndstooth pattern actually came from a Halloween paper pad.  I really like the menwear feel of it...  I printed the sentiment and flower border on white card stock and trimmed.  I added a bit of bling with a dash of Stickles glitter glue on the three blossoms and a silver flat backed adhesive pearl on each.  So easy!

He is Good...

How did you feel this morning? Did you wake up grumbling or were you ready to take on the world? Shamefully, I must admit I DO NOT DO mornings... which is quite a quandary when you have to report to work at 7AM... Each morning begins with me staggering out of bed, noting some new ache or pain and wondering why, oh why must the morning start off this way? Sound familiar????

But the truth is we have a choice! Way back in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve made decisions. Their choice, sin, had painful consequences. And regrettably the world has never been the same.

I made a conscience decision to grumble instead of praising God for another day of life. So today I CHOOSE to be thankful. Because God is good... ALL the time! Thanks for reading...

Grateful to be back...

Happy Friday! Today will be a catch up day at the Ulrich household. I am off work today and getting ready for John's youngest, Michael to arrive later today for the weekend. Can't wait to catch up with what has been happening at school!

As you may have noticed, I have been painfully quiet the last few days. And this fact is due to the issue I shared last post (a broken Cuttlebug...) I ordered from a major online company (and no, I will not name them) and my item arrived 8 business days after I placed the order. By this time I was quite frantic (exactly why my posts have been few and far between...) So Wednesday night I opened the box and proceeded to assemble my new Big Shot. But why wouldn't it assemble??? I watched You tube video after video and it seemed so simple... But yet, I couldn't do it... So dear hubs came home to a panicked look and quickly took control. After 30 minutes of tweaking and repeated analysis of the instruction book he finally concluded that the gears were not meeting and thus my Big Shot was a Big Flop.... AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!

So I contacted major internet sales company. They would be happy to overnight me a new Big Shot but ONLY after the broken one arrived in their office!!! Considering it took 8 days to get to me... (And did I mention it could take up to 4 weeks to get a refund?) Funny... they debited my checking the DAY I ORDERED....

So dear hubs called every store in a 70 mile radius from our home to find a Big Shot. Bad news... they no longer carried them... So he did a great deal of research (having a RETIRED hubs is grand....) and promptly found me a Big Kick for 50% off at Michaels!!!! He told them to hold it for me and drove 64 miles (one way) to pick it up!! GOD BLESS THIS MAN!!!!

I shared my horror experience with the Michael's CSR (I think his name was Lyle). He promptly said "let's open this one and make sure it meets your expectations!" Harvesting Pumpkins

Well... maybe not quite... We do have a few gourds on an rouge vine growing under the deck but no pumpkins! But this new set from Our Daily Bread Designs really puts me in the mood to hit the pumpkin patch. Days are a little cooler here as well and I find myself thinking about planting mums in the pots by my front door. But the practical side of me says wait. So I will! But boy I sure do love this time of year! So here is my ode to the most colorful time of year and don't forget to check back Saturday morning to get details on ODBD's Shining the Light Challenge.

Praise the Lord

Today's card was created using an image from Stampavie. Specifically this image is called Francesca in the Winter Field by Sarah Kay. The sentiment is one I pulled from a group of Inkadinkado stamps. I think the sentiment goes well with this image. I know in the cooler months, I forget all the things to be thankful for. It is easy to focus on the shorter days and challenging weather and forget the beauty all around us. The little girl in this image seems to be taking time to see the beauty in it all by stopping to appreciate the birds as they gather food for winter. So as this weekend I pull out my scarf and gloves, instead of grumbling, I plan on celebrating what God as given me. I have another day of life and a beautiful season to behold. Praise the Lord for all the things he has done!

Coloring Pumpkins with Copics

As promised, I am posting a mini tutorial on coloring pumpkins with your Copics. Try coloring some. They are really fun to do!

First stamp your image using a Copic compatible ink and paper.



Next color the edges of your pumpkin or pumpkins with YR07 (Cadmium Orange).



Next color a little more in with YR04, taking care to color OVER the YR07 you have already put down.



Next, color in with YR15. On this step it is crucial to use the CHISEL edge of your Copic. This will blend the layers of orange and make the color transition seamless.



Next fill in the highlight with Y21. Again use the CHISEL edge at this stage for the best results. I went back in with the brush side of my YR15 and lightly blended upward into the Y21. (This is not shown in the following photos.) It makes the pumpkin have a more "rounded" look!



The greenery was colored with YG23 and YG25. I then lightly highlighted the coloring with my atyou Spica pen in Olive for some bling. Stickles would work well also. Again don't forget to blend up with the brush side of the YR15 into the Y21 for a nice subtle look. (Sorry this photo would not post! :-( But feel free to check out yesterday's post to see a pumpkin colored with this technique! Happy coloring and we will do a poinsettia soon!

Breaking out the Cricut...

A while back, I finally broke out my Cricut and Gypsy after a LONG sabbatical. It's not that I don't love my dear friends but it seems my time is so limited. Just like a teenage crush, my attention turned to my new love, my Copics. And unfortunatly just like the sad mop (in the Swiffer commercials) my old toys were left behind. That commercial just cracks me up. Not sure why, but it does! (LOL)

Anywho... I decided to rekindle the romance after seeing a post on the Cricut Messageboard about the Heritage cartridge. Let me confess... I have tons of cartridges and some I have never (GASP) used! There must be a twelve step program for this, right? Thanks to whoever came up with this brilliant idea! They used the wrought iron gate welded together 4 times to make a fabulous background. They used it on a scrapbook page which undoubtedly was much easier to cut. I tried to do this for a small card and was left punching out lots of little hanging chads.... ARGGG...

But the results were well worth it. I especially love the details added by paper piecing the headband and dress. I used a little Chatterbox paper snippet I had to add a little pizzaz! It turned out so cute! I hope you find it beautiful too! Thanks so much and have a wonderful week!

Well the weather in Kentucky is just not cooperating! It is late October and the high will be 79 degrees today! Makes it a little hard to think about making Christmas cards. The mild weather is wonderful, though. I enjoy having a few more mild days to get things done in the yard and just plain play! Time for another challenge! I entered today's card over at Inspirational Card Sketches. This one has been modified slightly. I took my ribbon north/south instead of east/west.
