ODBDSLC106 ~ NO Designer Paper

Welcome and happy Saturday! Can you believe the weekend is finally here? Seems like only yesterday we were starting a new week. Bite my tongue right?? Today I want to share this week's Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge.

This week we want to see projects created with your own backgrounds, embossing, or just plain cardstock… NO designer paper.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, May 4th at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced Saturday, May 5th. If you are not using ODBD stamps, please do not enter more than once. Additional entries without using ODBD stamps will not be commented on nor will they qualify for prizes.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them! As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Friday, May 4th at 8 a.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC106. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to our challenge.

Here's my take on this week's challenge...

I decorated my base card stock using ODBD's Faith Set. My chosen sentiment came from the recent Quote Collection 1 release. After stamping the images in different colors, I ran the card base through a paper crimper and added some additional distress ink. It brought out the corrugated look to the paper. I stamped a few additional images and cut our some butterflies and added those with dimensional foam to the completed project. Pretty clean and simple...

Thanks for stopping in and be sure to check out what my other Sister Sticks have for ya... Blessings...

Exploring Cricut - Daily Project

Happy Friday to ya! So glad you could stop by. Today I am sharing a project I created for Diane over at Exploring Cricut. This little gem will be going to a young lady expecting her first baby. I pulled out at least one cartridge I hadn't even used before! Is that bad when you have Cricut cartridges you have never used? :-)

I created the card base by cutting two scallops from Elegant Edges. I then cut a slightly smaller circle (George) and edged it with lace. I inked the edges with Ranger Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass) for extra charm. This darling mum to be can be found on Cricut's New Arrival. I gave her a little added glam by adding ribbon and pearl detailing along with some glass slippers courtesy of Stickles. The sentiment from Our Daily Bread Design's Daffodil Tag Set fits right in with a shower theme. I hope she likes it! Thanks for stopping by and until next time... blessings...

And my project this week...

I began with a simple white card stock base, matting my DP with purple CS. The DP has been both dry embossed and all edges distressed. I stamped my image on Copic compatible paper coloring my Poppies lightly. I used the compatible ODBD die to cut my image out. Before finishing I created a bow with ODBD's Design Team Member Becca Feekan's new Peg Bow Maker. So easy and I love the final results dressed up with a lavender button and baker's twine bow.

Now next on the hop is Sandee. She has a beautiful project to share! Thanks so much for hopping along with us! Blessings!

TSTR111 ~ April Flowers ~ Guestie Week 4!

Happy Monday to you! Welcome to another fabulous week in the Tea Room. If you are looking for this week's Exploring Cricut post click HERE.

There are very few things I enjoy as much as receiving flowers and in particular roses! I love their delicate petals, wonderful aroma and lush color. I have to admit I don't like the thorns! lol...

This week create a card or project inspired by the COLORS featured in the inspiration photo and USE LACE or RIBBON and FLOWERS!

So on to this week's inspiration photo...

And my interpretation...

Can you say fun? The base is a lovely peach colored card stock upon which I added a layer of distressed/embossed white card stock. My DP panels have touches of peach, yellow, pink, mint green and purple... so lush! I added two types of lace on this project. Tucked under the bottom DP panel you will see a layer of mint green and white lace. The sentiment panel (stamp by Our Daily Bread Designs) is nestled behind a plethora of flowers and greenery. The vine is a die from Cheery Lynn Designs and the multitude of flowers are from my stash! I was a LITTLE nervous about mixing all these colors but I have to admit I LIKE it! Thanks as always for stopping by and don't forget to stop in again this week. I have a few Cricut posts along with some fun challenges at Our Daily Bread Designs. And next Monday will be my LAST guest spot with The Shabby Tea Room... sniff... Sniff...

Until next time... blessings...

Supplies

Stamps - Our Daily Bread Designs - Seed Packet
Paper - My Mind's Eye - Howdy Doody

Miscellaneous - Lace, Mulberry Roses, Violets

Exploring Cricut ~ It's a Box!

Welcome to another fun challenge at Exploring Cricut. If you are looking for today's Shabby Tea Room Challenge click HERE.

Diane's Exploring Cricut challenge this week..

Make a project of a box, container, or something with a box on it. With all the cartridges having things for parties, it is unlimited the ideas!

And here's my interpretation using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More...

Cuts

TBBM - Blackout Feature - pg. 126 - 9 in (1 white card stock, 1 yellow card stock)

     Directions

  1. Score boxes as scoreline indicates. (I found this to be easier using a clear ruler on my Scor-Pal to line them up...)
  2. Locate the top of the box on your white cut. Line the score marks up on the inch marker and cut. You should have an inch extra on each side.
  3. After trimming the frosting layer place in Polka Dots folder and emboss. There will be a tiny area that does not emboss on each side. Don't worry! You can trim those off.
  4. Trim the remaining tag folds OFF of the white frosting and trim edges as desired. I made zig zags...
  5. Assembly yellow cake base with Scor-Tape. DO NOT use adhesive on back. Otherwise, you can't put any goodies in there!
  6. Make sure your "cake" box is situated so the back door opens like a garage door... bottom up... (Very crucial b4 next step)
  7. Add "frosting" to top with Scor-Tape. Again, make sure the door in the back opens from the bottom up. This is why we trimmed off all the tabs so it can be opened.
  8. 8. Trim with thin satin ribbon on three sides. (I used 1/4 in Scor-Tape for this project.) Tuck ends inside box. Decorate "back door" last, tucking ends in behind the opening to allow it to open.
  9. Finish off with desired trims. I used some fun new items from Jolee's that look like Cake Frosting... So cool!
Thanks for visiting!

Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, April 27th at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced Saturday, April 28th. Here's my take on this week's challenge...

For the background I used coordinating DP cut in triangles. (My original square for each was 1.75 inches.) I then placed the paper triangles to create a chevron pattern. I selected ODBD's Flower Border along with scripture from Scripture Collection 8. I lightly colored the flowers/leaves with Copics before applying a thin coating of glitter glue. Some "green" dies complete the look! Thanks for stopping in and be sure to check out what my other Sister Sticks have for ya... Blessings...

CPS161 ~ A Trip to the Orient

Thanks for stopping by! Today I am playing along with a sketch challenge at Card Patterns and I chose some new Bo Bunny Papers, Serenity. They have an far eastern feel I think. So fun, bright and exotic! So here's the sketch...

And my interpretation...

As mentioned earlier the DP is by Bo Bunny. After cutting each section, I distressed the edges with Ranger Distress Ink (Black Soot). I trimmed the bottom half with some ecru lace I had in my stash. I elected not to do a traditional sentiment panel and simply cut a coordinating circle with a scalloped black CS base. A few new Spellbinder dies (Mix'd Media Elements) helped me with the branches and dove. A few jet beads are lined around the edge of the circle for fun. The sentiment (Our Daily Bread Designs' Easter Blessings) is attached with a simple mini clothespin I picked up in the craft section of my local discount store. Fun and definitely a little funky! Have a great day! Blessings...

French Country ~ a project with Distress Crackle Paint

I must confess... I love the French Country look! The thing is... I feel like it looks great in everyone else's home BUT mine... lol... So I have to settle for a decidedly French feeling card! No designer paper on this one though. I used plain card stock in black, mustard and dark red, distressing and inking all edges. I stamped the images on white card stock and then applied a new product for me, Distress Crackle Paint. The finish I chose is clear and I LOVE how it looks! It makes my images look like they are under old glass... SO COOL! I lightly inked the crackle before matting. The edges did curl up using this product but I like the look and decided to leave it. So fun and super easy!

So enough talk... here it is...

Thanks so much for stopping by! Blessings...

TSTR #110 Beautiful Roses ~ Guestie Week 3!

Happy Monday to you! Welcome to another fabulous week in The Tea Room. There's very few things I enjoy as much as receiving flowers and in particular roses! I love their delicate petals, wonderful aroma and lush color. I have to admit I don't like the thorns!

This week create a card or project inspired by the photo below USING PINK, AQUA (or BLUE), WHITE OR CREAM AND INCLUDE FLOWERS!

So on to this week's inspiration photo...

And my interpretation...

For today's project I selected some coordinating papers from My Mind's Eye (Dilly Dally) and Pink Paislee (London Market). I distressed all the layers and added some pretty lace trim to define the seam between the two papers. I selected a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs' Quote 1 Collection. The flourish is actually a Cricut cut from Ornamental Iron 2 layered under pretty mulberry roses from Prima and others from my stash. I added a few paper punched leaves for interest and an ecru pearl flourish. I thought this one needed a simple knot sash. I found this pretty cameo in some trims my good friend Sabrina sent me and knew it would be perfect! For complete challenge details and Mr. Linky. Please click HERE. Here's my take on this week's challenge... a clean and simple card...

I told ya it was simple! I created a 5 x 7 card with lavendar card stock, using a corner rounder on the bottom edges. I used the butterfly image from Our Daily Bread Designs' Happy Birthday set to stamp random butterflies on the card stock with Versamark Watermark ink. After drying, I stamped the sentiment where desired and sprinkled it with white embossing powder. After shaking off the excess, I used my heat gun to complete the embossed look. I tied some seam binding at the top (using a double bow) and attached a silver safety pin with two pearls added for interest. So easy!!

Exploring Cricut Daily Post ~ The Buzz

Welcome to another daily project for Exploring Cricut. I am so excited that Spring is finally here. The last few days have been decidedly cold here in Kentucky but I feel certain warm weather will return. So in the meantime, I must pacify myself with creating warm weather projects. I found this cute bumblebee (using the blackout feature) on Cricut's Home Decor and went to work! What do you think?

Cuts

Winter Woodland - pg 32 - Blackout feature - 2 - white 5.25 in
Circle - 1 - Designer Paper 4.75 in
Home Decor - Blackout Honeybee - 2 - black card stock 2.75 in

Details

1. Cut all pieces listed above.
2. Score one scallop below three scallops on one cut. Fold and apply scor-tape. Adhere to folded section to back of front scallop panel.
3. Using scor-tape, apply mini pompom trim to underside of designer paper circle. Stamp sentiment on bottom of DP.
4. Place DP panel on scallop base with dimensional foam.
5. Adhere two bumblebee cuts together with dimensional foam and then place with additional dimensional foam on DP panel.

I decided to work with...

And my project this week… embellishing a candy bar...

I elected to color the Daffodils on this tag with my Copics and lightly dust them with Stickles before cutting and adhering to the original tag. The original tag was stamped directly on my DP. This project is actually a sample for a baby shower token. I enclosed a full size candy bar with an embossed layer of card stock and then coordinating DP before attaching the tag with seam binding. Hope they like it!!

Now next on the hop is the DELIGHTFUL Rosemary. She has a wonderful project to share! Thanks so much for hopping along with us! Blessings!

Card Patterns 160 ~ Grace ~

Today I have a sketch card for you. I decided to play along with this week's Card Patterns sketch shown here...

By the time I was finished with it... let's just say I think I turned the sketch on it's head... oh, well... Sometimes the creative process is REALLY creative! lol...

The base is plain black card stock upon which I placed a new paper from Pink Paislee's London Market collection. I used Our Daily Bread Designs' Scripture Collection 8 for my scripture stamp. The next two layers, black card stock and a coordinating DP print from the London Market Set were cut with graduated sized Spellbinder Classic Oval Small Dies. I distressed the black card stock with a Tonic distressing tool before nesting it over the scripture focal panel with dimensional foam. The lace is actually a discounted lace collar from the beading section of Michaels cut down for my design. A Cheery Lynn Dies Fanciful Flourish (My Mind's Eye Breeze Collection) adds some color along with mulberry pink roses and a few leaf punches. I found an old jet flourish in my stash and placed it on the bottom corner for interest. For a final touch, I coated the scripture panel with Ranger's Distress Paint in Clear Rock Candy. If you look closely it gives it a nice old glass look... Thanks for stopping by and until next time... blessings...

TSTR109 Guestie Week 2!

Happy Monday to you! Welcome to another fabulous week in The Tea Room. This week we are thinking birthdays! And since mine was a few weeks back, this isn't such a stretch. If you are here to check out the Exploring Cricut challenge click HERE.

This week create a BIRTHDAY card or project inspired by the photo below and INCLUDE A CUPCAKE!

So on to this week's inspiration photo...

And my interpretation...

I used an electronic die cut machine to create a 5.25 inch card stock base. I then cut a five inch circle out of three coordinating Webster's Pages papers. After cutting those into thirds and placing in the desired spots, I distressed the edges. I then added a layer of off white lace around the circle before adhering with dimensional foam. The cupcake stamp was actually masked. I had to stamp the rose separately to add it to the top! I also cut a "liner" out of coordinating paper. For fun I added a layer of clear Stickles to the icing! A tiny twill bow was added for interest. I found that on a potholder of all things! You just never know what fun things you will find to create with! lol...

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Thank you so much for stopping in today! I hope you are having a wonderful day with friends and family. Our family will attend Sunrise Services, Sunday School and Church. We will then get together for an impromptu ham sandwich lunch.  We're a no frills crowd so if you stopped here you would see paper plates and ham on bread, literally!  It's a tradition we started after John and I married several years back.

Before I get to today's card, I would like to share a couple of photos I snapped last Sunday after church services. After lunch, I ran home and grabbed my camera intending to snap a few shots of the apple tree by our church's front office. I started taking photos only to spy this beautiful angel and it's proximity to the blossoms. SO I had to go in and snap a photo... kinda reminds me of the promise of that first Easter morn...

Our tiny church is the oldest Baptist congregation west of the Alleghenies. Located across from our church is the original church lot and graveyard. I spotted this lovely dogwood and noticed the weathered tombstones underneath. Undoubtably some of the first settlers... What stories these Saints could tell...

Today I am playing along with the Deconstructed Sketch Challenge. So here's the sketch...

And here's my interpretation...

Thank you for stopping in and be sure to come back as this will be another busy week at Scrappin' Saints.  Cricut fans will be in store for a couple of projects and my stamping friends will have plenty to view this week as well.  Monday, I will have two projects, one for The Shabby Tea Room and another for Exploring Cricut!  It promises to be a great week!

Today I will leave you with some scripture...

"And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.  And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold two men stood by them in shining garments:  And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?  He is not here, but is risen:  remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.  And they remembered his words, and returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest."

ODBDSLC103 ~ New Life

Happy Saturday All!! So glad you stopped by! I hope you are all having a great weekend!! Today I am popping in to share this week's Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge!!

This week’s challenge:

Since Spring is now here and signs of new life are happening all around us we want to see creations symbolizing new life! This can be Easter, a new baby, budding trees, flowers, etc.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, April 13th at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced Saturday, April 14th.

Linky by Friday, April 13th at 8 a.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC103. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to our challenge.

Here's my take on this week's challenge...

This card features another custom flower, created by layering 8 scallop punched layers. I started out with white card stock and then after punching inked each in the color I desired. In this case, I used a light pink, yellow and orange color. After the layers are cut, spritz with water, punch a hole in the middle and bind them together with a brad. Then pull each damp layer up around the center to form a flower "bud." Let dry. Then gently pull the layers apart, forming the look you desire. I finished by spritzing the entire flower with a Smooch Spritz. So fun! Thanks for stopping in and be sure to check out what my other Sister Sticks have for ya... Blessings...

Happy Easter Card

It amazes me that Good Friday is already here! It seems like a few days ago we were celebrating the Christmas season!  Time seems to go so much faster than when I was a child.

Speaking of being a child, isn't it interesting how your perspective of things changes as you age?  As a youngster I never understood the term "Good Friday." Naturally I knew that this was the day set aside to mark Jesus' crucifixion and death but I struggled with how something so vile could be called "good." It was only as a young woman that I began to appreciate the term. As Christians we know that you can never be good enough to remove our separation through God. For we are sinners from birth and God cannot be in the presence of sin. And the Bible clearly states "the wages of sin are death." A sinner receives an automatic death sentence. But even though we are sinners God loves us and does not want to be apart from us.  In fact he values that relationship so much that he made a way for us.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

John 3:16

It is through his shed blood that we may stand blameless in front of God.  What a wonderful gift that is.  It just has to be accepted and that my friends makes it a very Good Friday indeed...

Blessings...

Lori

More Than...

Isn't it amazing how those little bundles of fur can just wiggle their way into your heart? Everyone knows I am a big animal lover. The reason I go by saintsrule?  (It has absolutely nothing to do with a sports team...)  I have 4 St. Bernards... 3 English Shepherds... a horse... and sheep... but I was a cat person first! As a child I packed kittens around our farm in a basket, dressed them up in doll clothes and generally worried them incessantly.   (No wonder they ran from me...)  So when this delightful set was released by Our Daily Bread Designs, I immediately signed up to create some projects. I have several friends who have cats. And it is very difficult to find stamp sets you can use not only for cat lovers but for pet lovers in general. Sympathy sets are even harder to find. So when I heard that Kelley and the ODBD team had this set coming out... let's just say I was more than a little excited! I'm sure all pet lovers/stampers out there are rejoicing!

Now on to the card...

This is the same image I used on Saturday's blog hop! I just love this sweet little kitten. She is just darlin'! The base is black card stock with a layer of distressed/crinkled designer paper. The DP looks like newsprint! I stamped the heart with paw image randomly over the second layer of DP before adhering to the card stock matting. A bit of ecru lace and seam binding dyed black are tucked behind the image. I framed this image with one of the new Spellbinders dies, Floral Ovals. My image was stamped on Neenah paper so I could use Copics, of course! And then I finished with a light sponging of sky blue ink. A die cut butterfly with jet beads gives little Miss Kitty something to keep her eye on too! Thanks for looking and until next time... blessings...

WT368 ~ Life is Good

Welcome Wednesday and welcome dear readers! I am so glad you took a few moments to stop by! This week has been unusually quiet for me! I'm taking a few days to catch up on work, home and life in general. The next few weeks will be busy so I wanted to take a little time to unwind. My dear friend Sabrina (who designs for Our Daily Bread Designs) has a wonderful tag line on her blog. She says "she is blessed to do what she loves." I must agree wholeheartedly. I am truly blessed to be able to create and share. Sometime I have to "recharge" my batteries and come up with some new pretties for you. Today I am sharing a simple card using a lovely stamp set I picked up from my Close to My Heart friend Emily. It is called Remarkable Wreath.

The base is black card stock with a Cheery Lynn Designs Die layered on top. I then stamped my sentiment in black, the wreath in brown and finished off with red berries. I then hand cut the wreath out and applied it with dimensional foam. Super easy! And it was fast! Love that!!!

Please be sure to check in with me over the next few weeks as I have a ton of posts in the hopper. For the Cricut Crew there will be two Exploring Cricut posts. Saturday, ODBD will have another Shining the Light challenge and Monday I will be guest designing in The Shabby Tea Room. And I feel certain I will have more posts sprinkled in here and there. My down time will spur my creative juices! Thanks for reading and until next time... blessings...

TSTR108 - Homegrown Flowers

Happy Monday to you! If you are stopping by for the ODBD April Release hop please click HERE. I am so excited to be a part of the Shabby Tea Room this month. I am blessed to be serving as a guest designer each Monday in April. So be sure to stop by and see what fun challenge Debbie has for us! So on to this week's inspiration photo...

The challenge -

'Homegrown Flowers’ – create a card or project inspired by the photo and INCLUDE A HANDMADE FLOWER!

And my interpretation...

The homemade rose was super easy to make! I used a scalloped punch and cut out 8 white scallops. I inked each with a sponge using light pink ink. I then used a paper piercer to place a hole in the stacked scallops and placed a tiny brad in the middle to secure. I then crinkled each layer up and around the brad to make a bud. After getting the look I wanted I spritzed the entire project with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch. Super easy!!!

So leave us your ONE choice of favorite short Scripture, spiritual quote or spiritual sentiment, and YOUR submission might be in the next ODBD Customer Favorites Sets! Read all the details and leave your submission HERE! ***PLEASE take time to see the Scriptures already in our sets list so you don’t waste your one submission on one that’s already in a set!

Now… on to my creation:

I cut the scallop base using an electronic die cut system. Unfortunately I do not own any of the larger Spellbinders so I make due with what I have! The card stock already had a delightful embossed pattern to it BEFORE cutting! What a time saver. I cut a slightly smaller (5 inch) circle using some MME paper and layered a lace ruffle behind it. I then placed it on the card stock base with dimensional foam. I stamped, colored and cut my tabby image adding a scallop card stock base. The sentiment and image are both from ODBD's new release, Cat Sympathy. I love this set! And even though I am known for my St. Bernards, I originally was a cat owner. Well, actually they OWNED me! lol... I finished the card with a bit of white lace behind the image and a die cut flourish accented with mulberry roses. I added a tiny lady bug brad for interest! Miss Kitty had to be looking at something!!! Blessings...
