MOJO357 ~ You Anchor Me ~

The Bing Online Dictionary defines the word anchor three ways:

  • a device to hold a ship in place: a heavy, traditionally double-
  •      hooked, device for keeping a ship or floating object in place
  • a device keeping an object in place: any device that keeps an
  •      object in place
  • announcer of news program: an announcer on a news program,
  •      providing links between the studio and reporters on location
If you focus on the first two definitions, you find that an anchor is something that holds an object in place.  It keeps us "grounded" so to speak.  If you were a ship, an anchor keeps you from drifting away.  This is particularly important when you are experiencing rough weather.  Without an anchor, the ship could go whichever way the water moves and put the ship and it's passengers into a potentially dangerous situation.

The Bible says in Hebrews 6:19 KJV

"Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the vail;"

Our hope in Christ guarantees our safety, just like a strong anchor secures a ship and keeps it's cargo safe.  Our anchor is moored in heaven, with God Himself, whereas a ship's anchor must go down to the very depths of the ocean to secure it.

What are you relying on to keep you safe?  Where is your anchor?  Blessings...

    Today's card...

and some of the Our Daily Bread Designs' products  you see...

BLUSHING ROSE COLLECTION 6x6 PAPER PAD

Based on this week's MOJO Monday Sketch...

Today's card is on a 5.5 x 4.25 card base.  I chose a pale pink for my base layer with a darker salmon CS for my matting.  All of the DP you see here comes from ODBD's Blushing Rose Paper Collection.  For my top layers I chose to add another layer of Kraft mat before putting down my DP.  I stamped the sentiment (Anchor the Soul) with a rich brown ink and die cut using the Pennants Die set.  I tied a pale pink seam binding bow and added a cream pearl flourish with some vines created with ODBD's Fancy Foliage Die.

And now for the supply list...

    ~ Thinking of You ~

Yee haw!  The weekend is almost here!  I'm looking forward to checking a few more chores off my list!  A few more cards and just maybe a bit of housework!  ;-)  Can you tell what I REALLY want to do?  Craft, craft and craft!!!!

I have a card to share today using
Our Daily Bread Designs' August release,

    shown here...

I stamped the image on Neenah Solar Crest paper and colored with Copics.  I trimmed the panel down and added a bit of dark gray card stock for matting.  I used the same gray card stock to create my card base (5.5 x 4.25) and a dark chocolate brown for the remaining matting.  I used some masculine paper scraps from my pile with a bit of twill ribbon and a few leftover baubles in the corner.  I stamped the sentiment on an ecru scrap and added it above the panel.  I love the masculine feel on this one!  So fun!

Thanks so much for spending a few of your minutes with me today!  Hope you have a wonderful day!

Here is the first card I have to show today using, Flip Flop Fun and coordinating Flip Flop Die plus the sand dollar image from Ocean Treasures.

I stamped my flip flops on white card stock, die cut them and colored them lightly with a teal glitter glue.  Once they were dry, I added a tiny pearl on each.  The card base is a simple seafoam green card stock with a vellum layer on top.  I stamped the sand dollar image randomly with a watermark ink and embossed the pattern with white embossing powder.  I chose white and sea foam green for my sentiment panel selecting ODBD's previous die releases Vintage Flourish Pattern and Vintage Labels to highlight the sentiment.

I just love this sentiment!  A cup of coffee...  sand between my toes...  ahhhhh....
