Word Art Wednesday #79 ~ Anything Goes ~

Good morning and welcome to another fun and inspirational challenge at Word Art Wednesday .  Check out the WAW site for all the details, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!  Thank you to Fred, She Said and My Creative Classroom for sponsoring this week's challenge.

This week we are inspired by those wonderful and Godly women in our lives, whether they gave us life, mentored us spiritually or BOTH!  How many of you know some wonderful Proverbs' 31 ladies?  Let's hear it for the women who helped mold and shape us!!!

Here's my card featuring this week's verse, Proverbs 31:10...

I found this fabulous tutorial on how to create a sunburst pattern out of scraps at Operation Write Home.  This organization takes homemade cards and distributes them to soldiers who then send them to friends or family.  It's a wonderful cause!  If you have a chance to check them out please do!  Plus they have some awesome tutorials...    This tutorial is perfect for using up all those leftovers you having lying around.  I used some from a project last week!

Thanks for stopping by and as always, blessings!

VLVMay2012 ~ Mother

Happy Mother's Day! Mothers deserve so much credit for all the stuff they do! My Mom is a saint... after all she had to put up with me... lol... But to hear her tell it, I was a joy!  Now that is love!

Today's card is based on a sketch at Verve. I chose paper by Teresa Collins called Everyday Moments. I love the rich shades of blue, white and yellow! So fresh! Here's the sketch I used...

And my interpretation with some lovely details by Prima, die cuts by Spellbinders and a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs...

This will be going to my Mom today. I am so blessed to still have her at the young age of 75! God has been good giving me such an awesome, sweet and patient Mom. She is a joy! Love ya Mom! Make sure if you are still blessed to have your Mom to give her a hug, call or both today! It is the most underappreciated job in the world! Blessings...

Houndstooth and Mother's Day?

Yes, tis true! I mixed a distinctly masculine print paper with a decidedly girly pattern and well... let's just say it is definitely different from my normal cards! Sometimes you have to just mix it up, right? Since it is my birthday... lol... I can do that right??? Seriously, it gave me a wonderful opportunity to use one of the new Spellbinder dies. Gotta love that!

I started out with a sketch and somehow... Let's just say it went a little haywire! lol... So here are all the details...

Paper - Paper Studio, Bazzill, Basic Grey Kissing Booth
Stamps - Our Daily Bread Designs - Mother's Day

Another Mother's Day Card

Hope you and yours are having a wonderful day! We started out with some showers but just as we left church this morning the sun broke through! Praise God! He gives us just what we need when we need it! I didn't realize just how badly I needed that warm sunshine until it peeked out! What a glorious day!

Today I want to share with you another Mother's Day Card. Today's card was inspired by one of my favorite crafters, Becca Fekken at Amazing Paper Grace. She recently featured a tutorial on her blog showing how to use paper punches to create beautiful dimensional flowers. I have been experimenting with folded paper flowers recently and when I spotted this could not wait to start. Thanks Becca for your inspiration! You lend encouragement in so many ways!

Thanks as always and have a wonderful day!

For Mother

Mother's Day is rapidly approaching! It is hard to believe that May is almost here. Wow, this year is truly flying by! This year I want to do something really "special" for Mom. No matter what I make she always raves about it! Funny... she raved about my lopsided coloring I brought home in Kindergarten. My mother always appreciates gifts from the heart and that is why I wanted to do something a little unusual this year. Today's card is dimensional... and will require an extra large envelope.

I created the fan by cutting 3 strips of 2 X 12 inch designer paper. I then scored them at 1/4" intervals carefully folding each (gable style). I then adhered each strip end to end. I then used scor-tape to adhere the final two ends together. I then glued the fan to a piece of card stock. I used a hot glue gun to accomplish this so there would be little movement. To cover the center I cut images from the Cricut Paper Lace cart and added them to the top. The ribbon I used is actually seam binding by Stampin' Up (thanks again Barb!) which I bunched up tightly overnight to give that "wrinkled" look. Thanks as always for reading. I look forward to sharing some more creations with you in the coming days!

Blessings

Lori

My Life is Blessed

In a few short days my Mother will celebrate her 72nd birthday! Every day is precious. I lost my father to cancer nearly 15 years ago so each day I have with her is even more dear. Thankfully she lives close by so I can check on her and make sure she has what she needs. We have been blessed that we can maintain such a close relationship. When I saw this image by Flourishes, I knew it would be perfect for her card. She loves flowers and in particular roses. In the yard of the home where I grew up and she spent over 42 years, there was a beautiful cabbage rose bush. We moved her from that spot 3 years ago and I know this image will remind her of those special years! Thanks so much for checking out my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day!
