A Look Back at ODBD's July Release

It's time for a special look back at this month's release at Our Daily Bread Designs.  Here is the card/project I created using  Tickled Pink stamp set and coordinating Flamingos Die, Hibiscus Die and Ferns Die.  I also incorporated the Boho Bolds Paper Pad.  For more inspiration using the July Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

I chose to color the die cut hibiscus with a couple of distress ink, Spun Sugar (insides) and Squeezed Lemonade on the edges and stamen.  I also used a die cut cloud (Clouds and Raindrops Die) to softly sponge around and create my sky background.  I used the die cut image and added a bit of soft blue around the edges, moving the die as desired.  I stamped and colored my sweet flamingos and after die cutting, added them with dimensional foam.  I stamped the sentiment with a soft turquoise ink and used the Pennant Flags Die to cut and emboss.  A few faux ferns (Ferns Die), colored with clover colored ink nestle beneath my faux hibiscus.  The white matting layer is actual a die cut Lattice Background Die peeking out.  A band created with the Flower Lattice Die join a bit of solid DP and polka dot DP.  Here are the new items  you see today...

 and a few old favorites...

July Release and Blog Hop at Our Daily Bread Designs

Welcome to a new release at Our Daily Bread Designs and blog hop!  This month, we have a tropical theme...  perfect for all those summer cards you need to create!  And nothing says a warm tropical beach like flamingos and Frangipani!  For my first card, I used the new Tickled Pink stamp set, coordinating Flamingos DiesFerns Die and Frangipani Die.  We also have a special focus this month on one of our paper pad sets, Boho Bolds Paper Pad.  You see it here in the polka dot pattern paper and dark green background paper.

I inked the centers of each frangipani blossom with a bit of distress ink and each flamingo was gently colored with Copic markers after stamping.  I also added a bit of Bamboo Leaves colored ink to the sentiment panel after cut/embossing and before removing the die.  So here are the new items you see today...

and the paper pad when are highlighting this month...

I chose to do a center step card for my second project using the new Aloha stamp set, coordinating Bird of Paradise Die, Ferns Die, Hibiscus Die and Tropical Leaves Die.

I stamped my image on Copic compatible paper and after coloring used the Bird of Paradise Die to cut it out.  I added the image to a softly sponged white background panel.  I used a soft blue and scalloped die to create clouds.  I created a fun floral spray using the new dies, Hibiscus, Ferns and Tropical Leaves.  I nested those over the panel and added an oval sentiment panel.  I chose to use a variety of papers on this one including Birthday Bash Paper Collection, Birthday Brights Paper Pad and Boho Bolds Paper Pad.  Here are the new items you see...

~ ODBD Fancy Fan Die ~

It is hard to believe that April is drawing to a close.  As I write this post, the daytime temp has dropped to a crazy 57 degrees.  In just a few days, the weather forecast calls for a balmy 87 degrees!  Seriously???  It is no wonder that respiratory illnesses are EVERYWHERE!  Springtime in the Bluegrass state can bring a variety of weather events...  we have had snow on or close to Easter...  nearly 90 degree temps for high school graduations...  wild and crazy spring storms....  It's kind of like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates...  So with the weather fluctuating so wildly, it is easy to change your creative mood!  Today, I have a soft color palette featuring blue and white PLUS a few items from Our Daily Bread Designs' April release.  The May release is just around the corner, so don't forget to pop back by on May 1st to see what new items I have to share!  But in the meantime, let's go back and revisit the pastel shades of spring...

Isn't that a darling sentiment panel in the middle?  What is so cool about this is the die I used...  Fancy Fan Die.  Now, you could use this to create a traditional fan design like the one I did earlier this month shown HERE.  However, I chose this time to use two individual die cuts, overlapped and stamped, to create a sort of band around the card.  The base is a simple white card stock gate fold base with a slightly smaller DP mat (created with ODBD's Boho Bolds Paper Pad) AND a lattice layer created with ODBD's Lattice Background Die.  I added a soft blue DP die cut (also from the Boho Bolds Paper Pad collection) die cut as a focal panel with the Pierced Ovals Die set.  I created the flowers using the Aster Dies set and softly sponged them with light blue ink before lightly misting each layer with water and shaping to the desired look.  I added a bit of foliage using the Lovely Leaves Die set.

So here are the April items you see...

and a few old favorites...

Don't forget to stop back by on May 1st for the chance to join our new release blog hop!  It promises to be fun!  Thanks again for your time!

I started with a white card stock base cut at 4.25 inches x 11 inches, scoring and folding at 5.5 inches
