Welcome to another week at ODBD's Shining the Light Challenge. This week Chris has created a sketch for you to do...
And I am deeply honored because this sketch was inspired by a card I did a while back that you can see here.
And here is another interpretation...
This is a deeply personal card for me. As I shared with some of the ladies I design with, this is a little more "rustic" than what I am used too. I wanted to incorporate ODBD's We Three Kings stamp set into a card this year. When I saw this scripture, I immediately knew what I wanted to do. I selected purple card stock to represent the Magi and the greatest King of all, Jesus. I used touches of gold card stock (cut with Spellbinders Ironworks Motifs) to give a regal feel. I embossed the star and scripture in gold. And on the base I adhered distressed kraft paper and then some rough cut burlap tied with jute. I wanted this to represent the trappings that may have been on those beasts of burden and/or in the manger that day... It's very masculine and full of symbolism. I hope you take a few minutes this week to pull out some of your stamps and play along! I look forward to seeing what you do with this sketch! Blessings...
Now how to play...
To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, December 16 at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. If you are not using ODBD stamps, please do not enter more than once. Additional entries without using ODBD stamps will not be commented on or will they qualify for prizes.
While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them. As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Friday, December 16 at 8 a.m. EST. If you upload your creations to SplitcoastStampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC88. When creating your posts on blogs please include a direct link to the challenge.
And don't forget to visit the other Breadsticks! Please show them some blog love!

Lori, you captured all the symbolism so well in this regal vs. humble, rustic style combined together! Unique and creative and oh, so beautiful!
Was struck with awe at the breathtaking symbolism in this card, Lori, that you captured so well in your card - just at a loss for words how it touched me!
Hugs and Blessings!

the blue and gold is very nice and I like the doily cut thing.
Wonderful textures and symbolism, Lori! Thanks for the inspiration! Great design!
wow... this is one amazing card, lori!! love the rustic feel of the burlap and all the meaning behind the card!
Lorim girl, you have done it again. I am totally blown away. Yes, this card might be a little more rustic from what you usually do, but the meaning behind it and how beautifully it all comes together make it so much MORE special!! I absolutely love the burlap on the purple and the touches of gold...amazing!! Have a blessed weekend, sweet friend!! Hugs, Sabrina
Ooops, my fingers hit the "m" instead the ","....sorry, did not mean to mess up your name.
So beautiful! The symbolism is amazingly well done and ballanced. Love it!
