WAW91 ~ Psalm 124:8 ~

Welcome and Happy Wednesday!  The week is moving quickly and today it's time for another fabulous challenge at Word Art Wednesday .  Check out the WAW site for all the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!

A big thank you to Milk Coffee Stamps and Pam Korte, Close To My Heart Consultant for providing our prizes this week!

This week we are using Psalm 124:8...

His creation never ceases to amaze me!  From the largest whale to the tiniest bee, all were created with such thought and care!  I marvel at the Bumble Bee and how it's perfect design allows the pollination of God's beautiful flowers...  It takes my breath away!

I used a rotating color scheme of yellow, black and white.  The card base is 4.25 x 5 inches.  I added a final layer of vellum, found in my stash, (our Scripture printed on it) over a distressed layer of yellow gingham DP.  I added a couple of copper brads to secure the vellum and DP.  The bumblebee die cut has vellum wings too!  I added a bit of dimensional foam for depth.

As always, thanks for spending a few moments of your day with me!  Blessings...

MOJO303 ~ He Who Abides in Love ~

Finally made it back from Louisiana!  We took our time over the last few days but boy am I tired!  Now the fun begins...  laundry, household chores, the endless to do list...  **sigh**

But I did take a few moments to play with this week's MOJO sketch using a couple of Our Daily Bread Designs' July releases.

The base is black card stock.  The card measures 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches.  I added a dry embossed white layer (Swiss dots EF) and a slightly smaller panel of green CS with a bit of black under the DP.  I distressed/inked the DP with black distress ink before adhering.  I stamped the bird image next and added the birdcage image on top before coloring with Copics and using the coordinating die to cut.  I stamped the sentiment and fussy cut it and the matting myself before adding.  A few pearls adorn the bird cage along with some die cut vines and mulberry roses.  What do you think?

Here's the sketch... and yes, I did flip it...

On My Heart...A Devotion...

Good morning dear friends and fellow crafters!  Praying you are having a wonderful Sabbath.  I've been out of town for a few days so it will be a few more before I have a card to share.

This Thursday marks a new release day at Our Daily Bread Designs.  I can't wait to share the new stuff!  :-)  And on Wednesday I will have a new project for Word Art Wednesday.  And late next week I will be joining the Paper Sweeties crew to share some fun projects as well!  So stay tuned, there will be loads to share!

Today, I have a quick devotion I would like to post.

I have been traveling this week.  Specifically, I was in New Orleans for a conference.  The last time I traveled there was in 2001 well before the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina.

Late one afternoon, John and I set out to visit Jackson Square and get some beignets.  (Yum!!)  While walking up Canal Street we heard someone speaking over a megaphone.  The cadence was captivating.  The voice almost surreal and I quickly realized the voice I heard was preaching!  John and I both stopped and looked both right and left to find the source of this powerful voice.  Our eyes quickly settled on a middle aged man sitting on a street corner.  But it wasn't just any street corner.  He was just a few steps from Bourbon Street.  Suffice it to say that some of the worst traits of mankind can be found there.  The heat was unbearable.  It felt like 104 degrees in the shade and I didn't have a dry stitch on me.  Yet this man was preaching at the top of his lungs with such power that you had to stop and listen!  I thought about that man all week and found myself saying a prayer for him more than once.  His presence made me question my own walk.  Am I willing to put myself out there and take risks or am I afraid of what other people think?  I'm sure that on more than one occasion this gentleman has been called crazy or even worse... yet he continues.  His walk brings to mind the following verse in Isaiah...

"A voice of one crying out:  Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert."  Isaiah 40:3

At this time in Bible history the most immediate fulfillment of this verse was the return of the Jewish people to their homeland after the exile in Babylon.  Yet the ultimate fulfillment is seen as Jesus Christ as this scripture is noted again by John the Baptist in Matthew 3:1-3 ...

"In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Wilderness of Judea and saying, 'Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!'  For he is the one spoken of through the prophet Isaiah, who said:  A voice of one crying out in the wilderness:  Prepare the way for the Lord; make his paths straight!"

So my question to myself is this...

Am I a voice in the wilderness telling people about Jesus Christ and His ultimate return or do I just keep silent?

Thank you for reading and God Bless you!

WAW90 & SC445 ~ Deuteronomy 7:9 ~

Welcome and Happy Wednesday!  The week is moving quickly and today it's time for another fabulous challenge at Word Art Wednesday .  Check out the WAW site for all the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!

A big thank you to Shabby Cottage/Your Next Stamp for providing our prizes this week!

This week we are using Deuteronomy 7:9...

When I think of covenants in the Bible, I think back to the book of Genesis and the promise God made to Noah when he placed a rainbow in the sky...  That Bible lesson inspired my card today...

I printed today's Scripture on white card stock and matted it with a rich red card stock.  I created the card base out of the same hue of red with white matting.  I found the rain drop and umbrella papers in a paper pad I had (very appropriate) and added an adhesive rain drop for interest.

Today's card was based on a sketch at Split Coast Stampers and may be found in my gallery there as well!  Thanks for looking!  Until next time, blessings!!!

For complete deets visit North Coast Creations' Blog.

You can see ALL the NCC stamps HERE!

Here's the first card I created featuring a beautiful summer scene ....

Doesn't it look like the gazebo in the middle of your town square?  I added a bit of gingham DP for a country feel with a quatrefoil die cut panel on top.  I colored the image with Copics and inks using a punched scallop to create sponged "clouds."  I added a dab of Flower Soft where the original design called for flowers.  And just for a bit of punch, I added a few blossoms and paper punched sprigs in the corner.  I think I can smell that rose!

Now on to card number 2...

I used the same technique on this one.  I colored with both Copics and ink. A few die cut vines, paper punched flowers with beads and a tiny lady bug adorn the side.  The lady bug was a brad I snipped and repurposed for this project.  The main CS layer is gray with white layering and some fun denim DP.  This image reminds me of the tobacco barn at the old home place.  I miss it so much!

TMS207 ~ Happy 40th Anniversary ~

Good morning!  So glad you could stop by and visit for a bit!  Today I have a project based on a sketch found at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I needed a 40th anniversary card and while doing color research, found out ruby red is the traditional color for your 40th!  Who knew?  So with a sketch and a color scheme in mind, I went to work.

I created a ruby red card stock base with a layer of white and a die cut red decorative layer.  I stamped my image in black and colored each heart with my trusty Copics.  I added a bit of glitter glue to each heart for shine.  After cutting out my image, I matted it with red CS also and added it to my card base.  You know how I love flowers, right?  Well...  I had to add a few on the bottom corner!  ;-)  A few die cut and paper punched sprigs with lush roses fit the bill.

I didn't stop there!  I used a couple of Our Daily Bread Designs recent stamp releases to embellish the inside along with a couple of darling die cut birds.  I can't wait to present this to the lovely couple!  I hope you like it and as always thanks for stopping by!

TSTR175 ~ Be Still My Heart ~

Today's project was based on a sketch...  an old sketch...  a MOJO sketch I wanted to work with SO badly...  Even though the sketch challenge is over, I decided to do something with it.  Instead, I am entering it in a few other challenges including The Shabby Tea Room...  This week the theme is "romantic."
Does it fit the bill?

A closer look at the floral spray with scraps of lace and a pearl flourish...  I added some glitter glue and Flowersoft to the die cut ribbon banner...

I embossed the white card stock layer and added a few scattered pearls as well.  I used Copics to color the birdcage and separate ribbon die cuts.  Both have dimensional foam added for depth.  I nested the die cut image on a double layer of Spellbinders.  I opted to use a pink, white and black theme this time around.  I just love the pearls draped on the mannequin photo below!

WAW89 ~ Isaiah 12:3 ~

Welcome and Happy Wednesday!  The week is moving quickly and today it's time for another fabulous challenge at Word Art Wednesday .  Check out the WAW site for all the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!

A big thank you to Freckled Fawn for providing our prize this week!

This week we are using Isaiah 12:3...

I decided to use a simple Kraft and black theme.  I printed this week's scripture on Kraft before matting it twice.  I added this layer to a simple 6 x 6 inch black CS base.  A few blossoms from my stash embellish the bottom along with some paper punched springs and die cut leaves.  I added a jet flourish at the top for a bit of bling!  I've gotten out of the habit of doing 6 x 6 cards.  I'm not sure why.  I may have to revisit that notion!  ;-)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to hop over to Word Art Wednesday to play along!  {{hugs}}

MOJO301, TTCRD & SGC73 ~ On Your Wedding ~

Wedding season is in high swing!  I know there are several more on my calendar this month.  One of the brides-to-be LOVES purple.  So this time, I opted to use a bit of purple, orange and yellow.  Reminds me of all those bright summer blossoms in my yard right now.  Not a color combo I visit often...  but I just might have to revisit it soon!  :-)

The bottom layer is Kraft with an embossed purple layer on top.  I added some distressed DP (inked with a soft marmalade color) and matted my sentiment twice with coordinating papers.  I opted to run one layer of Kraft through a paper crimper for added texture.  The two birds are from Our Daily Bread Designs' Spellbinder Custom Die, Birdcage and Banner Die.

And the sentiment comes from ODBD's recent release, To the Lovebirds shown here...

A Look Back at ODBD's July Release!

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs July Release!  For this special post I created a card showcasing Love Scriptures.

For more inspiration using the July Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

Here's the  Love Scriptures set I used along with

an April release Quatrefoil Label Dies .

I just love pink, don't you?  For my base, I used white card stock with a layer of dreamy pink and white DP.  I embossed the DP before centering and placing on my card.  I used the Quatrefoil die and created a white base to place under the coordinating DP die cut.  I stamped my sentiment (one of my FAVORITE scriptures) on white CS and cut a simple rectangle.  I adhered it over the die cut taking care to gently curl in the edges for a bit of a distressed look.  A few white and pink blossoms frame each corner with some added die cut and paper punched foliage.  And since I LOVE pearls so, I cut a flourish up and added bits and pieces to each corner.

So what do you think?  I hope you like it!

For more inspiration using the July Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.  Also, I know my DT sisters would love a visit and some love, so please visit them as well!

As always, thanks for stopping in and have a blessed day!

WAW88 ~ 1 Timothy 4:12 ~

Welcome and Happy Wednesday!  The week has flown by and today it's time for another fabulous challenge at Word Art Wednesday .  Check out the WAW site for all the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!

A big thank you to Verse's Rubber Stamps for providing prizes this week!

This week we are using 1 Timothy 4:12...

The card stock base and matting are black card stock.  I chose a layer of DP made to look like newsprint for my base and distressed/inked all edges.  I used a couple of DP that I felt coordinated together (one polka dot and another floral) with a bit of lavender for the top panel.  A die from Memory Box is nestled behind my hand cut sentiment panel.  I added a spray of leaves and some paper punched foliage before selecting a bevy of pink blossoms to add.  An ecru pearl flourish (cut to fit) adds a bit of frill to the top.  I really love the feminine feel of this project...  decidedly one of my more "shabby" attempts as of late...

Thanks for stopping by and until next time...

Blessings...

~ Beauty ~ Vincent Van Gogh

Welcome!  I pray you are having a wonderful Lord's day!  Today is a special day for our family.  Our youngest son will marry the love of his life this evening.  We are excited to welcome a new DIL to the fold and a wonderful grandson!  God has truly blessed us and we are excited to see how not only how this union will be blessed but how it will honor our Lord and Savior!

So in the spirit of beauty...  a beautiful bride, flowers, dresses and the like...  what could possibly be more beautiful than the Lord's handiwork that surrounds us each and every day?  Have you taken a moment to watch a sunset or sunrise this season?  Have you thanked the Creator for his provisions?  We are having deluges of rain right now in Kentucky.  But when I look a little closer, I notice just how lush and green the grass is...  extremely unusual for this time of year!  It's a God thing!  Even with extreme weather conditions, beauty abounds...  We just have to look for it!

Today's card features a quote from North Coast Creations' ' Find Beauty set and sums it up nicely....

I stamped images from both the Find Beauty  and Something Marvelous  sets with Versamark ink.  I used a tan embossing powder to emboss both images and sentiment.  I sponged on a bit of light blue inks to create a watercolor effect and wiped off the images after the ink dried.  I framed the image with a bit of black CS and a light teal shade which matched the ink.  The card base is simple white CS.  Super easy!  So what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!
