About Love

What is it about love that captures our imagination? There are entire cable channels devoted to movies about love. Greeting companies would have us believe that buying their brand of card means we love someone more. We have multiple calendar days devoted to the celebration of it... Sweetest Day and Valentine's Day come to mind. We expect tokens of affection on our anniversary. It seems like a great deal of work, doesn't it?

That's what is so beautiful about love. It isn't a simple emotion. In fact it is one of the most complex emotions around. Studies show a brain "in love" operates on an infinitely higher plane than one that doesn't. Is it all about hormones? Or are we created to be a part of something bigger? It all goes back to Adam and Eve. God said it was not good for man to be alone. God recognized that as perfect a creation as man was (at that time) that he needed someone to love... a companion. Some would say that love got the human race in a heap of trouble... After all "the woman you gave me... told me to...." We're always making excuses to God right?

As children, we love and nurture our dolls. Or we love and nurture our pet... just like the image in today's project... We yearn to hold something or someone close to us. We need to feel that connection just as our creator planned it. God put a great deal of work into us. And just as he created us to love... He set the perfect example of love by giving us the gift of His son, Jesus.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
