Poppies for Queen Bonnie

Good afternoon and thanks so much for stopping by!  Today, I would like to share a card I created to honor a dear stamper over at SplitCoast, Bonnie.  Her online gallery is a veritable smorgasbord of blossoms whether stamped, paper or both.  I decided in the spirit of her fondness for posies to create something using one of my favorite flowers, the poppy.

We usually see them here in Kentucky around May.  They are a richly elegant flower, bringing to mind the sacrifice of so many veterans on foreign shores.  Memorial Day weekend our local VFW troop often hands them out for a small donation at local retailers.  They remind me of my father, who served in Korea, Uncles who served in WWII and great uncles who served in WWI.  I think of my forefather who stepped on these shores from his homeland of Ireland to serve in the Revolutionary War and receive as his reward, a land grant in the unknown wilds of Kentucky.  I am reminded of another forefather who served during the Civil War.  And I think of the young man, Franklin Sousley, who is buried not very far from my father in a tiny cemetery in Elizaville, Kentucky.  Who was he, you ask?  He was one of the young men famously photographed raising the American flag on Iwo Jima.  Franklin was killed just a few short days later, never to have a family of his own.  Patriotism runs deep in these parts.  And in this world our faith must run deep as well.  There is so much darkness in this old world.  Pray for our country, our world, our leaders, our military.  God bless them and God bless America!

Good morning!  So very glad you chose to spend a bit of your day with me.  We're expecting a change in the weather...  some rain, cooler weather...  just exactly what we need.  The Lord always provides just what we need at just the right time!  I can't wait to see the grass green up and the Creator's glorious masterpiece spring to life.  And I know with a nice sip of refreshing heaven sent water that will happen!

Today, I have a card to share using Our Daily Bread Designs' Quote Collection 3 and the April release, Romantic Floral Design.  The sketch may be found at Splitcoast this week.

MOJO287 ~ Letting Go and Letting God

And boy do I EVER need to hear that message today...  Seems as of late, my sin nature has fooled me in to thinking I could handle it all...  Uh no!!!  Not even close...  This quote is a perfect reminder of just how to get beyond the things that bind us...

The quote is from Our Daily Bread Designs' Quote Collection 3 .  And the yummy border may be found in ODBD's April release, Romantic Floral Designs.  It coordinates perfectly with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Six.  I love it when dies make it easy.  And can you see Our Daily Bread Designs' Spellbinders die release this month, Quatrefoil Designs Dies?   I nestled three behind the sentiment panel.  Here it is!

And everything I used...

WAW72 ~ God's Love ~

Happy Wednesday!  Today's card shows just how much I am longing for spring.  Saturday we had temps near 70 degrees.  Sunday we had 7 inches of heavy wet snow.  And Monday?  Thunderstorms...  sigh...

I've always heard if you don't like the weather in Kentucky, just hang around a minute.  It's bound to change!  And let me just say, my poor little daffodils have been pummeled the last few days but they still poke their cheery faces up at me!

Today I am dreaming in shades of pink...  specifically, cherry blossom pink...  After all, if the daffodils can be so cheery, why not???

ODBD 5th Anniversary and Blog Hop

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs 5th Anniversary Release Hop! Each year, Kelley allows each of her design team members to submit a Scripture Verse, a sentiment or a quote, and those submissions are made into the Anniversary sets. Today's hop will show most of those submissions, and we truly hope you love them as much as we do!

If you got here from Silke's Fabulous Blog, you are in the right place! If not, why not start at the ODBD Blog and hop from there?

Here are the details of the hop:

Hop will run from 8:00AM EST March 16th to
8:00PM EST March 17th
  • Winners will be announced March 18th
  • There will be THREE PRIZES of $25.00 Gift Certificates toward stamps! (must be claimed within 2 weeks)
  • To qualify for one of these prizes, simply hop to each designer, leave a comment and return to the ODBD blog to let us know you finished the hop, or if you had any problems along the way, and most of all, leave your congratulations on the big milestone for Kelley and Rick!
Now... on to my card featuring a stamp from Quote Collection 3

Shown here...

I stamped this favorite quote from CS Lewis on DP and centered on a coordinating Spellbinder Exquisite Circle die.  The papers remind me of wallpaper in an old country estate.  A bit of soft yellow crumpled seam binding adds to the feel.

From here, I will send you on to Dawn's Delightful Blog.

Thanks for stopping by!
