Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs' October Release and Blog Hop

Fall has officially been  with us for a week or so.  However, it doesn't really feel like fall for me until the first day of October.  This is when I launch into full creative mode!  I start prepping the house for the harvest season.  There are chrysanthemums on my front porch and a scarecrow to greet those who enter.  And I have even starting adding to my Christmas decorating stash!  So it seems only natural to be working on fall projects and adding a few more cards to my Christmas stash!  This month, Our Daily Bread Designs' added THREE paper pads, stamp sets and dies designed to help make your own shaped cards!  And the best part...  they cover both fall and Christmas projects.  So you can be creating both just like I am!  I can't wait to share the two projects I have for you today!  I did one for both fall and winter!  Don't forget to check at the end of today's post for info about this month's blog hop!  And be sure to come back each Friday to see a special project featuring this month's release!  

So here my first project featured the new Be a Sunflower stamp set, coordinating Sunflower Die, Follow the Son Paper Pad, coordinating Fall Favorites Paper Pad, Rounded Rectangles Die, Double Stitched Rounded Rectangles Die and the lovely Stitched Leaves Die.

 

I started with a the Rounded Rectangles Die to create my base and added another layer of chocolate DP from the new Fall Favorites Paper Pad, Rounded Rectangles Die.  I then pulled out another DP from the collection and used the coordinating Double Stitched Rounded Rectangles Die  to create my next layer.  I stamped the sunflower image (Be A Sunflower) on Copic compatible paper and colored each image before using the new Sunflower Die to cut each out.  I added a white die cut fence to the bottom and stamped my sentiment on Kraft paper before die cutting it as well.  I also added a few of the new Stitched Leaves Die using a few of the rich colors found in the new Follow the Son Paper Pad.  The same sheets are also available in the coordinating Fall Favorites Paper Pad.  So here are a few of the items you see here...

For my second project, I chose to use the new Card Greetings stamp set, Ice Skate Die, Pine Branches Die, Christmas Coordinating 2015 Paper Pad along with a few old favorites including the Christmas Collection 2015 Paper Pad, Pinecones Die, Rectangles and Pierced Rectangles Die and Pierced Ovals Die.  I started with a white card stock base (4.25 x 5.5 inches; gate folded) and added a bit of striped paper from the new Christmas Coordinating 2015 Paper Pad and die cut with the Pierced Rectangles Die.  The top DP layer (found in the Christmas Collection 2015 Paper Pad set) was die cut with ODBD's Rectangles die.  I cut a slightly larger white CS mat.  I chose to piece together the lovely skates (Ice Skate Die)  using white, black and silver card stock.  I added a bit of lacing (also in the die set) and nestled the pair over a faux pine branch.  I created this using the new Pine Branches Die and nestled in a faux pine cone using an old favorite, Pinecones Die.  I stamped the sentiment (Card Greetings) on a rich green DP (Christmas Coordinating 2015 Paper Pad) and then die cut it with Pierced Ovals Die.

~ Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue ~

I have had so much fun this month playing with the release items from Our Daily Bread Designs' September release!  Today, I have a card with a slightly different feel than some I have posted recently.  I used the new USA Flag Die and Let Freedom Ring stamp set to pay homage to some of the hardest working people I know, law enforcement. 

 

 I forget to say thank you to those who put their lives on the line each and every day to ensure mine is safe.  Whether it be police officers, first responders or our local fire departments...  they all leave their homes to protect and sometimes save us.  I used the die to create a black and white flag with the distant blue line.  I stamped the sentiment in black while inking the last word blue in the same colored ink.  I added a tiny gold die cut "badge" behind the sentiment panel.  This is for all of those who risk it all to keep our communities safe and help those in times of distress.

A Special Look Back at ODBD's September Release

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs September Release.  Here are the projects I created using Let Freedom Ring, USA Flag Die, Justice For All, Stars and Stripes Paper Pad and Defining Force stamp. For more inspiration using the September Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.  

I opted to give this project a more primitive look by using sand colored card stock instead of the traditional white for my flag (USA Flag Die).  I stamped the sentiment (Let Freedom Ring) on the same CS and added a navy blue die cut mat.  To finish off the double layered star, I wove some baker's twine through a natural wood button and added it to the center. 

  

It's been heartbreaking to watch all of the storm damage of late in Texas and now Florida.  I have traveled to the Lone Star state several times and absolutely love it.  The people are so nice!  (My husband says this is because most of the settlers originally came from Tennessee or Kentucky.)            :-)

I started with a red card stock base and after adding a slightly smaller white mat die cut a layer from the new  Stars and Stripes Paper Pad.  I love how it already has the flag design!  I used an older die (Ornate Hearts) to create my Lone Star Flag.  I simply cut white, red and blue layers to create it.  A white star from another favorite Sparkling Stars tops it off. The sentiment can be found in the Justice For All stamp set.  

 And my final card today features the new Stars and Stripes Paper Pad along with a sentiment from the Defining Force.  I chose to emboss this sentiment on the blue DP with a white embossing powder.  I chose a red card stock base to highlight this fun patriotic ray paper.  I love how it draws your eye into the sentiment panel!

A Patriotic Release from Our Daily Bread Designs

Good morning and welcome to release day at Our Daily Bread Designs.  This month is all about red, white and blue.  We have a new patriotic paper pad, stamps and beautiful dies to share.  I can't wait to share a few of the papers, stamps and dies I had the pleasure of working with this month.  So, first I will start with one of the most amazing dies I have ever worked with.  It truly is a grand ol' flag!

This project uses a couple of new items including this beautiful passage on the Defining Force stamp set.  I started with a 5.5 x 4.25 inch navy card stock base.  The flag is the new USA Flag die cut in white, red and blue card stock and pieced together to make this AMAZING base.  Can you see the stitching?  This die is SUPER detailed!  I reminds me of a lovingly pieced quilt.  I used ODBD's Double Stitched Rectangles Die (for the red card stock sentiment base) and Rectangles Die (white sentiment panel).  I stamped the sentiment in red ink.  I just LOVE this sentiment!  

 
 I have a deep respect for our military.  My husband served in the army.  My father served in Korea as part of the Marine Corps.  I also had 3 uncles who served in WW2 (one was missing in action for several months).  One other uncle served in Korea.  Three of my great-uncles also served in WWI.  My husband had a great uncle who gave the ultimate sacrifice in WWII.  A love for and respect of the military runs deep in our family.  It humbles me to think my savior laid down His life willingly for me.  How blessed we are! 

 And isn't this the most AMAZING die?  I can't wait to show you some of the other projects I created with this die.  Let's just say this set is so versatile!  So are you ready to add these items to your stash?  Veteran's Day will be upon us shortly and these items would work perfectly to say a special thank you to your favorite veteran!  I love anything patriotic, so I am tickled to have these items to create the perfect card!

And this lovely distressed card features the new Stars and Stripes Paper Pad and Let Freedom Ring stamp set.  I chose a couple of distressed prints from this set for my striped base and star banner.  The paper pad set has beautiful coordinating solids as well.  In this card, both the sentiment mat (burgundy) and stitched star (navy and burgundy papers) can be found in this paper pad.  I chose to stamp the sentiment in a rich navy ink and added a bit of baker's twine (tan and white) to each end of my banner.  I also used a few old favorites from my stash including Circles Die, Double Stitched Circles Die, Pennant Swag Die, Sparkling Stars Die and Double Stitched Stars Die.  

Here is the closer look at the new Let Freedom Ring stamp set.  I can't wait to use this with the new USA Flag Die.  The verse from the Star Spangled Banner will be perfect paired with it!   

One word of note...  on my second card, I did cut the designer paper (red and white stripes) and combine two pieces to get one sheet that would cover this card.  I strategically covered the seam with the matted blue star paper!  I hate to waste any paper!  It is too valuable! 

And speaking of valuable paper, here is the lovely paper pad I pulled DP from.  You will also see this used on my final card shown below.  I actually took a few pieces from the collection and cut them in such a way to create a cohesive design in the paper.  I wanted it to mimic something similar to a patriotic wave of sorts in the background.  So I cut two pieces carefully so as to get as close as possible to that goal.  I really like how it turned out too.  The design is a bit different.  Keep in mind this is not a fancy fold that ODBD has but rest assured there are two beautiful new card base sets for you to choose from this month with coordinating matting.  You will love them!  

This card features the new Stars and Stripes Paper Pad, Justice For All stamp set and USA stamp.  I stamped the USA stamp image on white card stock with navy and red ink.  After drying, I fussy cut the image and used it across the bridge of this card with a few red, blue and gold die cut stars.  The sentiment (stamped in navy ink) can be found in the Justice for All stamp set.  I mentioned the DP earlier, but it is important to note, the red and navy solids you see used here also came from the Stars and Stripes Paper Pad.  I love the fact that coordinating solids are included in the set.  It makes it super easy to match up your papers!

A Look Back at Our Daily Bread Designs' August Release

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs' August Release.  Today I have three cards to share including the one posted here.  This card features the August release items, Teamwork stamp set, All Star Jersey stamp set and coordinating Sports Jerseys Die.  For more inspiration using the August Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog along with my design team sisters. For the first card, I started with a black card stock base and added a white CS mat.  I chose a bit of black and white Designer paper from ODBD's Chalkboard Paper Collection.  And why did I choose these unusual colors!  The High School I graduated from...  were black and gold!  I stamped the jerseys on yellow DP from the Birthday Brights Paper Pad and used the coordinating Sports Jerseys Die set to cut the gold stamped image and a black CS layer to go underneath.  I simply cut along the "sleeves" on the jersey image and nested it on top of the black die cut.  I just love the dimension!  The phrases also came from the All Star Jersey stamp set.  I simply used a black marker to fill in the text.  The number one, was created with the Sports Jerseys Die set.  The polka dot DP used came from the Birthday Brights Paper Pad.  The stars (created with white card stock and Sparkling Stars Die) were nestled behind and top of the polka dot layer.  And for the final touch, I stamped the sentiment (from the Teamwork stamp set) with black ink on white CS and used the Pennant Flags Die to die cut and emboss.

It is really hard to find golf related stamps.  Even though, my husband DOES NOT golf, I have several friends who do.  So I was super excited to see this release!  And it has the coordinating die with it!  Even better!  I started with white card stock for my base and added a base Designer Paper layer from the Boho Bolds Paper Pad (the soft blue and the polka dot design).  I sandwiched a white mat CS layer between the two.  The final layers, including the sand trap, grass and polka dot sky were framed and die cut with ODBD's Pierced Rectangles Die.  I created the sand traps using the Leafy Edged Borders Die.  The grass was created with the Grass Hill Die.  The Ephemera Essentials Paper Pad provided the soft sand DP for my faux "trap."  I stamped the image from the new Golf Stamp Die Duo on Copic compatible paper and after coloring used the coordinating die to cut it out.  The sentiment may also be found on the new Golf Stamp Die Duo.  Copic colors used here...  C1, C2, C3,C4, C7, 100

So for today's final card, I worked with some lovely plaids and patriotic colors found in the Old Glory Paper Pad.  I also used a soft brown from the Ephemera Essentials Paper Pad to create the clipboard.  I used the Clipboard Set Die to created the sentiment frame and used the Teamwork stamp set for my sentiment.  A few stars scattered about (from the Sparkling Stars Die set) add a fun touch.  The Double Stitched Rectangles Die provided the perfect touch for the red sentiment mat.  I used a fun blue (Memento's Blue Danube) and red (Lady Bug) for the sentiment itself.  A bit of baker's twine tied around the faux clipboard finish it off!

Let's Play Ball... A New Release and Blog Hop at Our Daily Bread Designs

Here is my first card featuring the new Football Stamp Die Duo...

 

 I started with a polka dotted base (ODBD's Birthday Brights Paper Pad and a white mat.  I chose a bit of green card stock from my stash and used a die from the Double Stitched Rectangles set.  I added a few white stripes (to mimic yard lines) and stamped my sentiment (Football Stamp Die Duo) on white card stock.  The fun football (also from this set) was colored with Copics.  I added the final Touchdown sentiment framed with the Pennant Flags Die set. The new set shown above...

 

So here is another sports themed project using the new Basketball Stamp Die Duo. 

I found the burgundy, blue and plaid papers in one of my old favorites, Old Glory Paper Pad.  I created a net panel with white card stock and ODBD's Lattice Background Die and nested Rectangles Die.  I stamped the image (from the NEW Basketball Stamp Die Duo) with black Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it accordingly.  And the new set you see used above...

And for my final card today, I chose a couple of NEW sets, Teamwork and All Star Jersey and coordinating Sports Jerseys Die.

My go to paper pad on this project was also the Old Glory Paper Pad.  I stamped the sentiment from the NEW Team Work stamp set on white card stock and after embossing added a soft sponged blue ink.  The jersey (from the NEW All Star Jersey) was stamped on red DP and white card stock before fussy cutting and combining the two.  The numeral (also from All Star Jersey) was die cut and embossed using the coordinating Sports Jerseys Die along with the jersey.  A few random stars finish the card.  Here are the NEW items you see above...
